Again if your offense turning it over in the other teams red zone. You don't think your going to be giving up Fgs and TDs. Comeon man do I have to explain that one to you. Facts are Raiders are a top ten defense and probably will move up to possible a top five defense in coming weeks. Just remember a guy who wasn't good enough to make Raiders roster(Rashad Moore) has looked like Jets best DT. Now what does that say about your defense. Not to mention B Hamilton(another defense reject) you traded for. Mangini speciality supposedly is defense and what team defense rejects was hye targeting. What does that tell you Mangini thinks about Raiders defense.
Selectivity is a beautiful thing, Jeaux. It's what keeps me single. Your Raiders defense surely is the number ten defense, if you click that little tab that says "total defense," but only ranks yards per game. The problem, though, is that they're also nearly last in most other statistical categories - notably, time of possession, takeaways, rushing defense, and scoring. They've also had fewer defensive pass plays than all but two teams. At the same time, they are, as you ably point out, in the top ten in yards per game. So, what's that data tell us, hmm??? It tells us that teams are starting with decent field position, not having to pass very often, and effortlessly running all over the Raiders' defense, who can't take the ball away. Most importantly, it tells us that teams are SCORING at the end of those drives. Good luck with that top ten defense. Thank you. Come again.
If giving up almost 30 points a game is what you can expect from a top ten defense - I'll pass. :rofl2:
That's right, total yards mean nothing. Unless the Raiders are 32nd in total yardage and everyone on this board calls them the "32nd ranked defense". They were ranked 27th in yards last year and they were ranked 10th coming into this weekend. But it's "Raider myopia" for a fan to say they've improved? Fact is, they've been put in a LOT of bad situations by their offense and have held up pretty well. And they'll get better. And their time of possesion is a reflection of the offense's many 3 and outs, which will wear out any defense...
Stats don't bear that out. I'll grant you this much - some of the Raiders' defensive statistics have to be viewed with an eye on their offense. But saying they are the tenth-ranked defense based solely on yards per game ignores the totality of the stats, which tell a dramatically different story.
Watching Art Shell's constant vacant, soulless gaze is arguably more enjoyable then Raiders football this season. There needs to be a camera on Shell at all times just to catch his non reactions. Maybe some kind of a split screen where the fans can watch Shell wonder if his dry cleaning is ready while the game comes crashing down around him.
All im going to say is clearly Jets don't have a top ten defense or a top twentyfive defense for that matter. 475 yards to Bills. What Jim Kelly back. Hey like Jet apologist greg Buttle said Jets were extremely lucky to win yesterday. Still a Win is a Win. Good news for Jets, AFc East looks like the worst divison in AFC. NO AFc East team is going anywhere.
hahaha who made that jeaux avatar? that's got to be frontrunner for avatar of the year. i hope it's new because i don't like to think i could've missed it until now.
That was Sunday Jack's work. I think he put one together for him about a month ago or so. Jeaux is a good sport to wear it.
Your right there are alot of titans and bills(who out played the Jets but couldn't protect the ball) on Jets schedule. Like greg buttle said Jets were extremely lucky to win this week. Hey If my team was 2-1 I would be happy. Enjoy it while it last. J E T S _ Jets Jets
Lets see what greg buttle was trying to say and did you watch the game. Lets see every catergory Bills dominated Total yards Jets 256 Bills 475 First downs Jets 15 bills 26, Net Yards rushing Jets 74 bills 169, Net yards passing Jets 182 bills 306. time of possession Jets 26:47 to Bills 33:13 Only stat Jets came out ahead on was the key- turnovers. usually when you get totally dominated in every catergory like that, there a very good chance you are the loser. Yes Jet won ,what he considered a lucky win. His point was against the good teams they don't turn the ball over. No way to win a game like that.
It happens. I could present a litany of games where a team was outgained severely and still won based on turnovers and plays on special teams. There was nothing lucky about the Jets win. End of story.
Hahahaha...that's what's brilliant about you jeaux. No one is claiming the Jets defense is top 10 at anything. In fact, aside from making key turnovers at critical points it's pretty awful...especially at stopping the run. Yet you come here and start spouting craziness about an aleged top-10 defense which doesn't exist except when you look at a single stat. granted it's a stat that hacks like adam schefter like to quote. but ultimately means nothing to anyone that actually watches the game of football. Much like 40-times after the draft.
You are fighting the wrong battle jeaux. the Jets held the lead from the 2nd quarter on. Points are what ultimately decide the outcome of football games, not yardage, first downs, or time of possession. The Jets played a soft coverage defense and were careful not to give up a big play in the fourth quarter. Consider it nursing the lead, but I don't expect you to understand these things...they're complicated for christ's sake.
