This thread is anything but the "no spin zone"! Think the Raiders aren't a top 10 defense because they've let up a lot of points? Fine. But any defense that gives up almost 500 yards of offense to JP Losman and the Bills is nowhere near top five!

Keep believing the yardage you giving up is because you are playing soft coverage to protect a lead. Listen I can wait to prove thats not case, than what are you going to be left with. The fact is Jets are one worst defenses in the Nfl. That what happens when you try and force a Scheme 3-4 , that you don't have the personal to play. NO Just makes my case stronger. Not only Raiders offense putting the raiders defense in bad spots, but IF you look at time of Possessin, Raiders defense on the field alot longer than Jets. Now you don't have to be a math wizard to understand that if a defense on the field alot more times, than there totally yardage should be higher. Thats not the case .
Not when teams build up big leads then use 7 minute RUNNING drives to march all over your shitty defense. Hence your Defense being on the field for a long time and not giving up that much yardage. Bottom line is the Raiders are the worst team in the AFC, if not the NFL. Who cares about their defense -- their coach sucks, the D is mediochre at best , and their offense is a joke. They will be lucky to win 4 games this year.
IMO the only thing Jeaux is right about is the fact their Offense is leaving them on the field far too long. but wouldnt a top 10 defense generate turnovers? i guess good defenses that score points are just "lucky" i think what you fail to see is. nobody here is claiming the jets have a top 10 d. were just trying to show you that how useless the total yards allowed argument is cause I bet you the defense cares about wins, not their paper rankings.
You're right. The only hypocrisy I'll point out is that nobody on this board had a problem using yardage rankings as a barometer when the Raiders were 27th, 30th, whatever. Now that the Raiders have a good yardage ranking and the Jets have a bad one, yardage rankings don't seem to mean as much, do they?:wink: Personnel wise, they are certainly better with Huff over Gibson at SS and Howard over Brayton at LB. Those guys are two reasons I think the D is better this year, and they'll only get better the more they play. You're right about turnovers too. If the Raiders can maintain the yardage ranking and force some turnovers, they might win a couple of games. Then it would be more appropriate to crow about the D.
yet you keeping signing ex raider Defensive players who couldn't make Raiders Roster. LB Ryan riddle and Cody spencer. actually I like ryan Riddle thought he looked very good this preseason. IMO Should have been Raiders backup MiddleLB. Riddle has alot of upside, but Jets are loaded with inside Lb type. Jets envision him helping them at outside lB. The little he played Outside in 3-4, wasn't as impressed, as when he played Mlb. Good name for Jets defense- Raiders C team

Yes If Raiders played the Titans , Patriots and bills. They probably be at least 2-1. IF Raiders defense is so mediocre than why is your coach(with defense background) gobbling all those EX raiders defensive players.(who weren't good enough to make a mediocre defense)

Yes SO FAR, The Bye week was the best week for the Raiders.(well at least for my stomach) The offense and playcalling been that Bad. Raiders lose this week and there a goodchance the OC will be retired to Bed and Breakfast home for good. John Schoop would probably take over. I can see it now.
