highly doubt that would happen. I just don't see how we'll be able to really trade into the top 10 to get richardson. We have too many holes to fill and moving up would stop us from drafting the positions we should be focusing on.
For the record, I dont think gettin Richardson is the best option for the jets. This team has so many holes to fill, and having 10 picks would be really helpful. Again though, I dont see picking Richardson as a curse, there's a reason he's the best rb prospect in the draft.
in all fairness, we dont know what we have in Powell. So for people to say he is bad is well.....dumb (also a wast of a 4th not to mention all the picks we would give to move up).
Its a curse because we are not addressing more glaring needs. Agreed he is the best RB prospect, but our need for RB does not out weigh our need at other positions. Again, RB, solid ones can be found in later rounds. We would be giving up 2 years worth of draft options pretty much to get Richardson. The drop off between the best RB draft prospect and the others in the top 5 is not that great. If the JETS were willing to waste away 2 years worth of draft picks, why not go waste off 3 years and get luck or griffin? You just do not trade up for RB, IMO not a good idea. 16 spot is really good, 14-17 are always good slots. They should stay at 16 or move down, in which case you can address the RB hole most of you want done.
I just read Sal Paloantonio reports T Richardson is #1 on NYJ draft board. Does somebody want to explain to me HOW THE FUCK does he know that? Why in the blue hell would NYJ brass ever release info about their draft board to ANYONE!? UGH Better be a smokescreen or it's Joey Clinkscales that defecting bitch.
Well, it depends on how you see him. Some think Richardson is a good prospect, but not great. Others, like myself, believe he is the next Adrian Peterson. Why waste our picks on people who may not pan out when Richardson is basically a lock for a successful NFL career?
No pick is a guarantee, but lets assume every top 10 player is. Again assume. So based on your logic, franchises should trade for a top 10 pick every season because they are more likely to pan out as oppose to the other 7 picks they would have in the draft? So we should have given the Colts our 1 and 2 for the next 4 years for Luck right? Because he is a guarantee. Lets say Richardson is the next AP, what are you going to do with him if you cannot build talent around him until hes 26? RB decline at 30. It does sell tickets and jerseys, but does not win championships.
1. I never said all top 10 picks were locks, and I never assume that, I said Richardson is a lock. 2. Luck is overrated. RGIII will have a better career than Luck, IMO. 3. Runningbacks do not decline at 30. As a Jets fan, you should know that (Thomas Jones...Curtis Martin).
I would also not read too much into the Jets verifying Trents contact information; they did the same with many others including Safety Mark Baron. Could they be looking to trade up for him? That’s the great part of the draft; especially this week...its all speculation.
It's an easy soundbite to make. Andrew Luck would be #1 on my draft board but there's no way we can ever draft him.
I was listening to the Scott Van Pelt show on ESPN Radio about a half hour ago, and they were discussing a rumor they had gotten wind of that the Jets wanted to trade up to #4 to grab Richardson. For the love of god, and all that is good and holy in this world, I hope this is smoke being blown by Cleveland to get more value for the pick in hopes of trading down. It's not that I think Richardson will be a bad player at all. Far from it, in fact. But this team has far too many needs to be making a luxury move like that. If we were a running back away from winning the super bowl, I'd have no problem with it. But we are NOT one RB away. We're a couple WR, a RT, a pass rushing OLB, a DE, and a FS away from even contending. All that said, I wouldn't be at all surprised if this happened. And yes, I'll be pissed if they do. Again, I won't be pissed at getting Richardson, I will be pissed that they treated the draft as if they were GMing the Jets in Madden.
Geez I find myself agreeing with about 19 out of 20 of your posts. Including this one. The Jets have too many other needs to make a deal like this happen.
Btw you should see all the trailers they've got lined up on 51st street for the draft show. Must be at least 15 of em.
Depending on the price and how many picks we'd give up in this draft, i'd sport wood if we got Richardson. Look at it this way, we pick up an O-lineman when other teams start cutting players. We get Braylon in late June/early July when he's healthy,on the cheap, we have a ground and pound back in Richardson, who along with Greene and McKnight would be pretty sweet, and pick up a few other defensive players in later rounds. Again, if we can keep this years 3rd or 4th(not sure which we still have) I think we could pull this off.
If the Jets can rip Cleveland off again I'd be for it. Swap 1sts and a bag of balls and tees like last time? Hell yea.
Barron 1st.....Poe or another HUGE DT/DE if Ryan swears by him.....then maybe one of the HUGE tackles to replace Hunter.
I hate the idea of trading up in this draft, especially for a RB. Like others said, hopefully the rumors are just rumors. You can't exactly trust the shit that people put out there the day before the draft. If they give up the chance to draft a highly rated OL or OLB while at the same time probably giving up next year's 1 and maybe 2, how the hell are they ever going to address all of the other needs?
