Although i love the moves we've made i'm disappointed we didn't pick up Canty in FA. We need to improve the pass rush. We can't expect the LB's to be our primary pass rush. A guy to ease the load on Jenkins should be a priority, also. Thought Poua might be the guy,who knows?

You clearly know nothing about the 3-4 defense. This defense RELIES on the LB's to supply the primary pass rush. That is at the core of the system. You think Canty is some sort of sack machine? In 4 years he has averaged a grand total of 2.5 sacks per year... less than half of what Ellis produced last year.

You posting about the Jets reminds me of Magic Johnson's book about how to avoid getting AIDS. Clearly, he was an expert too.

  3. The only thing I would add is that from what I have seen Ryan doesnt run a vanilla/run of the mill 3-4. He does mix in some 4 and even 5 man fronts to take advantage of players strengths and to confuse the opposition. It couldnt hurt to have another versatile/athletic down man other than Ellis. I dont think Canty is that guy..and perhaps in some situations a guy like Gholston can be...but it wouldnt hurt to add another "disrupter" up front.

Just what the heck will Ryan run? it could be darn near anything from the 46 to whatever. I'm sure we'll see some Gholston on those 4-5 man fronts. I'm sure we'll see Rhodes do more blitzing too. I could be completely wrong... I really can only guess at what Ryan will do... and that's the point, right? Hopefully, opposing offenses won't have a clue what is coming either.

The OL has played tohgether for a year now, and that should make a difference. From csome of the other posts, I still think there is very little chance of using the 1st round pick on a QB. I do like the odds of possibly trading down if Sanchez is there at 17 and somebody desparately wants him, otherewise, I think we will definitely pick a WR with 17. The next best shot could possibly be either a RB or DE.

I could not agree more all 3-4 teams pass rush comes from there OLB'S. The 3 lineman are used to take up blockers so the 4 LB'S can make plays. 3-4 lineman do not put up big sack numbers it is 4-3 DE'S & 3-4 OLB's that get big sack numbers Ellis lead the league for a 3-4 end with 8 sacks.

ok the whole arguement about whether or not D'Brik can't run block is retarded.. TACKLES are suppose to be your pass blockers while GUARDS are your run blockers.. thats how you break it down.. D'brik isnt getting the publicity of a 4th pick becuz he plays line.. if we need anything n the line its a RT.. its not that woody sucks.. just he is currently our worst OL..

I think we are all on board with the poor assessment of Dbrick. He is a much more than serviceable LT in this league, young and still learning. Lets not forget that the entire line will remain intact from last year. We should not overlook how important this is going to be in terms of results on the field. Chemistry with Oline is as important as a QB and his WR's.

I do agree we need some depth on the o line. Typically, I like G's and C's in the second round. I hope we draft any offensive line position outside of LT in the second round. BPA style.
