The question is do the Mets make a move to bring in Adam Dunn next year to play right and use Pagan off the bench. His numbers are good but with Dunn's power you'd have to imagine that we'd finally have that big bat in the middle of our lineup. We also need to find another arm but I have no idea what would be available As far as I'm concerned we know it'll be Santana/Niese/Dickey/Pel/? Then again the Mets could always look at how the Padres are winning, guys who get on base and a fantastic bullpen.... two things the Mets are lacking.
But, we might only be talking about a week here. Isn't Bay eligible to come off the DL next Sunday? If so, Bay-Beltran-Pagan for the rest of the season is a good outfield.
The Mets bullpen is above average. Solid, but sometimes inconsistent. I like Dunn, but A) You're not going to play him at 1B with Ike there, and B) He's just a bad fielder, Not Murphy OF bad, but.. I'd rather start Pagan. Pagan seems to be developing into a 5 tool player and I'd like to keep him starting.
Fair enough. Actually, since the Cubs turned down Perez/Castillo for Zambrano, I bet they could offer Perez/Frenchy for Zambrano and get him. I could deal with Big Headcase as the 5 starter.
The problem is the Wilpons have shown they won't do what it takes to win so by adding Zambrano how much would that restrict us from signing FA's and making moves in the offseason?
Them getting Zambrano would further irritate me. Bad contract and a bad guy. What they should do is ship Perez to the minors due to sucking. Just leave him there. Why was he brought back up to the major league team? Did he throw a couple no-hitters in the minors and I simply missed that news somehow? Unless Perez' minor league ERA was 1.00 or less, he should not have be recalled.
Actually, I wonder what Pittsburgh's asking price is for Paul Maholm. He could be a pretty decent back of the rotation guy in NY.
I was thinking about the same thing yesterday. I have no idea about his contractual status, but he would be a good starter for the Mets.
2011: $5.75M, 2012: 9.75M club option w/$0.75M buyout I doubt Maholm moves. The Pirates have been pushing Dotel on everyone and their mother.
Mets should get Chan Ho Park. Had some success with Philly last year, especially out of the pen, but couldn't cut it in the AL East. For nothing, why not?
This team is a fucking joke. Braves and Phils got better, and we sit here with a thumb up our ass and do...guess what?! NOT A GODDAMN THING! Fuck Omar Fuck the Mets Bring on the Jets cuz the METS SEASON IS OVER
Didn't we have him for like five minutes back in 2007 or 2008 lol. He's steadfastly refused outright assignment to the minors, he only went the other time because it was supposedly rehab from an injury (ergo temporary...if he accepts assignment he knows he might never get back).
