Gee, thanks! People here really should listen to and agree with me more often. It's just a suggestion. I have no illusions that there would be some kind of prize for me if that happened. I am just trying to be helpful!

If the medical info was such that it looked like Cro had a chronic condition, that would have been one thing. But it really did not sound that way. I doubt he plays all that much longer, and the Jets might not have been competitive even if he was still on the team (see Qb, Smith, as in uncompetitive). But counting on Patterson to be the hold the fort guy for Milliner and McDougle was a bad idea.

Imo I think what really happened is Idzik thought he could get someone in FA, who would be his signing, and did not want to do another contract with Cromartie. But that blew up in his face, especially when DRC signed iwth the Giants. Patterson was a weak subsitute, and imo was not at all the plan all along. By the time FA was more or less over, Cro had been signed by AZ, so that ship had sailed. Patterson is the one he ended up with.

This is how I feel also. I thought the main reason we didn't sign him was because of his hip status, which he seemed to struggle a lot with last year. I was content not resigning him and thought it was a good idea because of this. Now, I don't think so much. But in reality, we'd still be here with or without him. The defense has struggled but we are losing games once again because of our terrible offense. This year has made it apparent that it doesn't matter who's at corner, if Geno Smith is still at QB, we ain't winning shit.

Moves like this is why Idzik's gotta go. We went from a strength on the defense to a mediocre one. We went from bad to worse on offense. There isn't anything to point out except for Richardson and Ivory as to good acquisitions.

Look Cromartie sucked last year. And then just because he has a good game last Sunday (btw his only two picks of the season) some of you guys jump all over it.

He's obviously a better option than Patterson, and he's better than any CB we've put on the field this season..

We could have done a lot better than Cro this offseason, but he should have at least been a fall back option for depth once Idzik failed to sign anyone else.

Cromartie is rated a top 10 corner in PFF. He has had plenty of good games this year outside of the Broncos game. You cant just go off of INT to decide if a corner has had a good game or not. Cro only sucked last year due to his injury primarily because it doesnt make any sense otherwise to just all of a sudden become good again. Another Idzdick failure....

Isn't Arizona giving up more receiving yards than anyone team the league? The only team giving up more than 300 ypg?

I remember reading by almost everybody here that "nobody could be worse than Cromartie was last year." Well you were wrong, and so was Idzik. It's easy to say it was a bad move, but I had no strong reaction to his release when it happened.

Look our defense isn't giving up big plays esp on 3rd and long because of one non-signing. We're not 1-7 because of that.

the secondary is the reason we are giving up 3rd downs, and the reason we are giving up the crazy amount of passing TD's..
it's also probably the biggest reason we are 1-7, with Geno being a close second.

would one low level signing make a huge difference? probably not.....but it would've helped with the bleeding for sure.
one really good signing at CB could have made a big difference.

Yep...dead last in that stat. But that must be somewhat misleading to how their pass D is because they are 10th in QB rating against. It is also skewed a tad by Manning lighting them up for close to 500 yds.

There's a lot more to it than that. But it's a part of it. You're simplifying things and blaming it all on one guy: Idzik for basically not signing one player. Our D schemes are predictable and as Rex says after every loss (and he's right) he he was out coached.

I think they try to jump a lot of routes and do get the interceptions because of it, keeping QB rating somewhat low, but giving up big plays in the process. They are towards the top in teams giving up plays of 20+ and 40+ yard pass plays. If the game against Denver is removed the only teams that would jump them for worst against the pass would be Tampa and Atlanta. Though if you are going to remove their worst game you should remove their best game to balance it out, doing that puts them right back in last.

Cards are 6-1, I know everyone would take that stat with the stats above. Even their backup QB won some games, I would take that as well.

It funny how people want to say while Arizona at the bottom against passing so on and so on. The bottom line is Cro is 3 times better than any CB we got. Plus we could had sign Cro for 3mil but the great Idzik decided to sign Mr. Awol instead for the same amount.

Idzik isn't willing to take any chances on players. Although he seems to have no problems with the draft. Maybe he just second guesses himself or doesn't have the right player info. Of course look who is suplying the info.

Cro deserved to not be re-signed and even during his good years with the Jets was beaten often. To me he was vastly overrated.
