GREAT signing by Izzy! I'm already excieted. We FINALLY have a REAL pass-rusher that's not the size of a needle (Aaron Maybin). Can't wait to see what Rex does. Btw, I think we're gonna be playing a lot more 46 defense this year. Our front 7 is def. the most athletic it's been in the Rex era.

    You are correct.

And just think, this year we got Barnes, we might be signing Butler, and we could possibly be drafting Jarvis Jones.

Talk about a homerun in the pass rushing department LOL

I can't wait to see what Rex's defense can do with a solid pass rush. No more trying to design blitz packages to make up for it. We might just have a constant rush that could make our secondary even better. I smell a top 5 defense in the coming years

Maybin was supposed to be a "pass rusher" as was "Golsten". Neither one panned out.

Guys think Barnes is a 1 trick pony but actually he's always been behind superior players on the depth chart

I think he'll get a chance to shine as a complete OLB

    rex inherited gholston.
maybin was a cheap reclamation project. this is the first double digit sack guy rex has acquired.
i cant wait to see how effective the blitzes become when there is someone who the o.l. has to account for

No one said anything about what you predicted about the Jets, like we keep a notebook and a fuck about what you think about the Jets.

It was referenced how every August, Bills fans (that's you) flock here and tell us how this is the year. Notice how many 'falses' you had to put by your Bills section. By the way, the only way to "compete for a wildcard" is to go 9-7 so that was in essence your main prediction, and you were 3 games off.

Expecting this thread to not have excitement in it is as irrational as the old tired August Bills joke about Chan Gailey walking into Toronto with postseason aspirations.

Solid signing for a very good price. Even if we are able to bring in better guys in the next couple of years he's priced well for a 3rd OLB/sub package player.

I like the Jets picked up a low cost vet at a position of need.
Exactly the type of move we need to make.

Haven't seen a lot of Barnes games, but reports are very favorable regarding pass rush.
will remain to be seen whether he can be utilized effectively as a 3 down player. That's something i'll be watching for in camp/preason. Hopefully he can be, as we don't exactly have a lot of depth/options.

I'm excited about this. We haven't had a serviceable OLB in quite a while. For once, our D line doesn't have to do everything. Wilkerson-Ellis-Coples looks so much more promising with Barnes. I'm hyped for this draft now!

I like this pickup, but we still need to draft a young raw olb with our first round pick. Hopefully Barnes can hold down the fort for a season or two.

So you call me out on my posts last offseason, and then when I defend them, you say no one cares? LOL. Guy... YOU brought it up, not me. I wouldn't expect anyone to care what I think, but dont call attention to my prior posts and then sit around wondering why I'm talking about them.

Anyway, lets all respect LongTimeJetsFan, this has nothing to do with the topic.

I like the signing of Barnes as a backup, situational pass rusher. I hope the Jets dont plan to roll him out as a starter, and I dont think that is their intention. It makes sense to keep pursuing a veteran free agent as well as drafting one with the first or second pick. Good pickup, IMO.
