He's a character concern and he and his brother Michael are from the Revis school of contract negotiations. $ is more important than football for these type of guys...a big pass on him
I'm sure Chicago can't wait to take on Milliner. That seems like fair compensation. If he would take a paycut, wouldn't Chicago just keep him? Or were you kidding and I missed it?
I was basically saying I'm not that interested. I wouldn't give them any draft picks from this year we only have 6. If they want to role the dice on a player like Milliner who has potential but is always injured they can. It would take a bad contract off our books. Most likely Bennett gets cuts, maybe we look into signing him then, because no one is trading for that contract.
He got his ring with an arch rival and has underwhelmed compare to his total compensation from the Jets. Are you a Jets fan or a Revis fan? Because I don't know a scenario where That 33M gurrenteed last year and next year are worth it. IMO Revis is and always will be a detriment to this TEAMS ability to spend on other more impactful positions. It's like paying a TE 9M a year. Bennett has been a difficult contract negotiati and overvalued himself. Hence my comparison to Revis....no thanks
I'd go as high as a 5th and move some pieces around to accommodate Bennett next year. He's a top 10 TE and most 5th round picks never even become starters.
I wouldn't be opposed to this if he re-negotiated his deal. The guy I'd love to see them sign is Ladarius Green.
Probably. But Bennett would be a great addition to the passing game, and can block. Getting him would probably obviate the need to add a wideout, and the Jets could instead hope one of their second tier receivers improves. Bennett is the one FA move at a skill position player that would be huge, compared to any other options that have been mentioned.
Wrong. The TEs we had last year didn't do anything because the TEs we had sucked. Gailey has proven time and again that he'll make use of whatever talent he has on hand.
Not worth it to you but worth it to Revis. News flash -- players negotiate to get the most for themselves not the team. Revis has succeeded on all accounts. He's gotten paid and won.
Fleener has already signed with another team as has Dwayne Allen. There are no longer any good FA TEs available.
