Br4dw4y5ux great post! The Patriots are going for broke (as they should) and we're building for the long haul (as we should). Two different perspectives at this juncture of each franchise.

Smart, tough players - Tangini will find them...and we will improve.

your making huge assumptions that the pats will decline and the jets will get better. b/c mangini comes from bb's tree, he's guaranteed to be a success. mangini is a one year wonder until proven otherwise. weak schedule and no injuries will not likely be repeated next season. but b/c mangini is the coach, you guarantee the jets are on the rise and the pats are declining. roflmao ok boy wonder, your more brilliant than all... NOT

We can not control what the Pats do. We have more holes then they do. We are going to sign 2nd and 3rd tier free agents who fit the mold, draft wisely, make an agressive move ( trade, move up in the draft) when they see fit and sign our upcoming players before they hit the market like Cothcery and Rhodes. It sucks that we are in the same division as the Pats but we gotta do what we gotta do.

    gsourjr obviously a pats fan

Dude, you are pat fan trying to disguise yourself as a Jet fan. Give it up, get some new material. Go back to your queer pat boards. Your coach is an a-hole and your little dynasty is over...

That's quite possible. The Jets might have gotten a great linebacker if they signed him. The odds were really strong he'd be great next year anyway.

I'm just really leery of signing the big names as they get near 30. Sometimes you get some Reggie White goodness coming your way and other times you wind up with Edgerrin James dragging every thing down around him.

It's hard to pick the late bloomers and get em right. Thomas does look about as good as a 29 year old linebacker could at the moment.

If it is going to take five years than Mangini isn't the man for this job. This is NY & five years is unacceptable. We stood with them last year but I doubt if that will be the case this year. They can be had but we just put ourselves behind the 8 ball by letting a HATED div rival get the jump on a player that is perfectly fitted to improve the 3-4. I just hope we sign Porter.

Sometimes a poison pill hurts everybody when it goes down at first. I really think any aging free agent signing is a very bad thing for New England right now. The Pats would have been better off if the Jets signed Thomas and they had to go find a young linebacker in the draft to begin to shore up their crew.

If the Jets chose to sign Joey Porter now, at a lot less than what it took to sign Thomas then I'd be all right with that. I don't think it'll happen but I'd be cheering if it did.

i guess from your perspective, you have see, think, drink and sh*t green to be a jets fan. and be a major mindless homer. i call it like i see it. we can all bullsh*t ourselves(i guess) that everything the pats do is moronic and a bad move. but which coach has the 3 sb rings and when did(jets fans) become better at evaluating talent than a proven nfl coach. i just try to look at things from a football perspective and not just from the jets perspective. if that makes me less a fan than other jet fans, than i'd rather it be the case. i'm not about to lower myself down to a moronic homer level to be a respected jets fan!!!
by the way, i've probably been a jets fan longer than you have existed. in fact i was 12 when the jets won their only sb.
