The turning around thing is a whole other story. Wilson apparently wears the kind of helmet that is connected to his shoulder pad which prevents him from turning his head w/o having to turn his body completely around.

So Wilson is slow and can't turn his head around. Remind me again why he was a 1st round pick? SMH.

Lmao @ the people counting us out in the preseason ... Especially in a game where we knew we would get torched defensively. We played good only thing pissed me off was the penalties. Pryor is going to fight hard for DROY n im fucking pumped up about that

OMG. If anyone cannot see the clear agenda in those highlights I don't know what to say. That was pathetic. "Let's show Geno's worst 2 plays, and Vick's ONLY play and it will fuel the controversy". Fuck them. Not to stupid NFL fucks: Geno solidified his starting position for the Jets last night

That would make you not a Jets fan. I slept through the second half of a lot of games during the Kotite Error but I watched them and I was always hoping to see the Jets win.

Sadly, I watched them all wide awake.

I like what I saw from this game. CP3 looked like an absolute stud, Geno looks very good, our RBBC looks like it's one of the tops in the league, and Amaro looked much improved already.

For people bitching about the secondary, no shit it looked awful. Our top three guys are hurt. Patterson and Milliner will be ready to go by Oakland. If we still suck then, that's when you worry.

Immediately got heartburn when Geno did this.

Looking for positives, however, the team as a whole played well.....but, reality check, it was against Cin 2nd and 3rd team, so this is NOT the most reliable measure. Our running game looked impressive against Cin 1st team. Our pass defense should pray mightily for the return of Milliner because Dalton could have stood in there all day making completions and scoring touchdowns if he was not pulled out early (scary scenario vs our first round of opponent) Salas is a good player and should make the team. Pryor is playing like our Premier draft pick but that certainly is not a big surprise.

The wind up is a big confidence booster for Smith who threw some great passes and did destroy the second string Bengals secondary. Fans can be happy for a win in a game where Decker and Ivory were absent. I said back in May that given Geno's ability, he should stick to short passes and hand the ball off. Nothing fancy please lol.

There's a point where you have to ask what a guy brings to the team. I don't think Hill brings enough to make the 53 at this point. The Jets have a couple of other veteran receivers that they cannot PS who are on the bubble including Jacoby Ford (returns KO's), Greg Salas (catches the ball well in the intermediate routes and is a threat after the catch - this is a WCO the Jets are running now) and they have two rookies they might want for special teams in Jalen Saunders and Quincy Enunwa.

Does Hill really bring enough to the table to get a spot over those guys?

What I've seen from him this year so far is the same thing I've seen every year: when he is matched up against a bad CB he can play and when he isn't he disappears. He still doesn't have particularly good hands and he still doesn't know how to control his body in the air when the ball is coming in.

Could he become a good receiver despite all of the above?

No, he has to fix all of the above to make it in the NFL.

I was still drinking back then and my usual one beer per quarter rule went out the window watching those teams. I'd be halfway through a 6 by halfway through the second quarter and go to sleep on the couch at halftime. Then I'd piss the 4th quarter away the same way the Jets were pissing the 4th quarter away.

Wilson is a terrible press CB on the outside. I can't figure out how Rex hasn't figured that out yet. The Jets should definitely be in Cover 2 on most downs when Wilson is in the game and on an outside receiver.

When you are bumping and running you are always right with your man. The inability to turn your head is disastrous in that situation. You're relying on the QB not throwing the ball because he sees you in proximity or missing the throw he makes. Otherwise it is an automatic reception for the WR, who knows the ball is coming in and where it is while you don't have any information other than your guys eyes are as big as saucers.

If Rex see our D-Line as the salvation in the face of a depleted secondary then it's possible he won't show ANYTHING to GreenBay in preseason, or even Game 1. He may have even told his horses to take the edge off and play soft. No highlights. No film. Save it for Rogers. They definitely didn't play any stunts or schemes and players seemed content to just stand their guy up. Guess we won't know until Game 2.

Yes, very well stated post sent from the heart. Ha, are you saying the "rebuilding" will last 2014-19? How about till 2024?????? We rebuild while Idzik cashes his checks and laughs at Rex and the Johnson family!!. Idzik can always say who knew this player would be injured etc, I predicted 10-6 and possible playoff spot but this will be done with smoke and mirrors and probably Vick. I am very glad to see I am not the only jaded old fart who" knows nothing about football" who has the ba--s to see through the charade of this organization. I am also find it hard to be a Jet fan but Hope springs eternal...if you are 40 years and younger it's easy to say you wait forever till Mr Idzik says "we are now ready" for a SB lol. All I can say is keep focused on the players you love and hope for some wins.

All you old farts are messing up the board! :D

This is what happens when you have inflated expectations that aren't gonna be met. This year isn't as pivotal as a lot of folks think as it's only year 2 of the Idzik. Unfortunately, it's year 6 of the Rex Ryan era so if Rex is back to being his old self, we can look forward to more of the Old Rex. That is, the effusive praise followed by outlandish statements designed to pump up his players. Since there was no "Playoffs or else" demand made, there really shouldn't be "playoffs or bust" attitude with the fanbase.

Woody loves Rex and at the end of the day, it's Woody's call. If Woody is willing to wait until 2015 or later, the fans should be as patient. I would say this though, if things are static or trending down after 2015, whole new ballgame.

Sidebar: When will the NFL network show the game?

Good input Ajitator. I like your observations, particularly the comment on Hill versus Nelson about favoring one versus the other. I know I'm the minority here, but so far, I don't think Nelson has done much to deserve a spot over either Hill or Salas. Nelson's upper potential is non existent. As for Wilson, he can not ever, never be placed in a cover one situation, period. That to me is more game planning than anything.
We had two major miscommunications that cost us points, and that is on the players ad the coaches....the intercepted pass to Nelson, and the blown cover two on the touch down.
My biggest concern abut this team, bar none, is the inordinate amount of costly penalties, particularly from the OL. That to me is inexcusable.

I finally realized this last night. During the game I was thinking, wondering if Rex's philosophy, regarding man-to-man, is that the Qb won't throw it because the WR appears covered by the DB who's near him/running with him.

The problem with that is, once specific DBs get exposed by a Qb who takes his shots despite the (seemingly good) coverage, it doesn't take long for other Qbs to notice. So, if Wilson has now been identified as a guy who can't run with his man AND locate the ball, then it makes his role in a predominant man-to-man scheme useless.

I like the idea of using Wilson in a way that allows him to keep the play/WR in front of him. He's a strong, aggressive tackler, esp for a Cb.

I have nothing more to add that hasn't already been said… Wilson stinks, Hill is frustrating, the running game looks great, Pryor look like an absolute stud, Geno looked way more confident than he ever has.

Downplay it if you want, but that little bit on the sidelines with Vick, Mangold and Geno said a lot to me in terms of Geno's confidence and comfort levels. Obviously some of it has to do with him not being a rookie anymore, but could you picture Geno doing that to Sanchez? It would have never happened. You can tell Vick and Geno have a great relationship and just being more comfortable around your teammates will translate on the field. So far, it has.

Anyone happen to catch the highlights on NFL Network last night? They showed the Sanu TD and the Geno pick... that's it. Then followed it up with "the Jets want so badly for Geno to take the reigns but things like this say he's not ready" or something like that. Nevermind the rest of the game...
