Exactly. Tebow brings a lot to the table. Just having the other team wasting practices and preparation on how to stop the Tebow Cat will help Sanchez run a more conventional offense. That was one of the biggest problems with losing Brad Smith. Rex loves being unconventional. Makes us a hard team to prepare for. I don't think anyone in the NFL can run a wildcat better than Tebow. He can be a punishing runner and unlike Brad Smith and Ronnie Brown he is much more a threat to throw the ball. When Brad Smith ran the wildcat defenses would put 9 in the box and he'd still go for decent yardage.
Did we even try a fake punt last season? Weatherford was fast so he tried a bunch. I have a great memory of the blowout in Oakland with Weatherford faking a punt and running straight up the middle with the ball with all the Oakland players running back with him.
1. Tebow isn't going home to the Jags as long as the current GM is there. That is why he preferred the Jets. 2. I also think the Jets will show Tebow options in preseason just to get other teams thinking about it. He was very successful in Denver his first year running goal line packages. Rex knows how much teams will have to miss preparing for possible Tebow options instead of working on our regular offense. So does Tony - they both got a full taste of it last year. As an aside - what an unusual phenomenon for a QB in the NFL that was on a 4-14 team while he was on the bench and have a 9-7 record with a playoff win on that same team including his 3 rookie starts. How many other QB with this background have so many people talking about cutting him and running him out of the league? I'm talking about some of the media and some fans. I have been watching the NFL for over 50 years and this seems very strange to me. No I am not suggesting he is a bona fide starter or that he is the second coming but the kid can ball.
Tebow is not getting traded. As much as I hate to admit it, I dont like the idea of facing Tebow, particularily in the red zone. He'll be a good weapon and I think he sees the field a lot more then some of you may think. Additionally, Woody is making a lot of money off of him and I am certain he likes the exposure the Jets have gotten since Tebow came over from the Broncos.
Man I cant wait for this first preseason game, Then most of these questions in this thread will be answered. Will we show the other teams a piece of what we have planned or will we stick to the vanila plays that usually occur in preseason games. As for Tebow I am on the fence with him until the actual games start. Go Jets
Tebow is NOT a regular QB, If mark has a good season(which I expect) Tebow will still see the field and still be a contributor.
