The draft pool these days is easy to pick because the picks are slotted. It is 9M plus for the jets this year. Actually, it just got lower as we traded two picks away, it is now 8.5.

    Round 1, Pick #3
    - - - - - - - - $5,551,437

    Round 3, Pick #72
    - - - - - - - - $729,482

    Round 4, Pick #107
    - - - - - - - - $659,678

    Round 5, Pick #157
    - - - - - - - - $550,984

    Round 6, Pick #179
    - - - - - - - - $524,828

    Round 7, Pick #235
    - - - - - - - - $501,98

Thanks that makes sense. Appreciate it. So we have 30 million to spend.

Ok so with 30 million left and with less draft picks we need to build depth. Areas we need depth in no particular order:

    1. DL. I think we have Leonard Williams, Mclendon, Pennel and that's it. We definitely need some depth and players here. Not sure of ages and things but Hankins and Sylvester Williams interest me here. One year prove it deals might be worth it. Not sure of others available. Figure one pick will be used for the line.

    2. MLB: I know we signed Pierre Louis. We probably need two more for special teams and depth. Don't expect anything big. A draft pick maybe and another signing or two.

    3. OL: Need alot of depth here. Would like to resign Dozier. I know there are some names out there. Age scares me but we need people here. Definitely will be drafting a few guys for the line.

    4. OLB: Need many. Probably draft one. Maybe sign a guy or two but they will just be backups.

I think we are good at cb and s for now.
We could sign a tight end but I think they feel we have 3 on the roster and we are good.
RB maybe we draft one but good for now.
    QB: Draft one third overall.
WR: It'd be nice to add a vet but at this point probably not.

If anyone knows of anyone worth signing please let me know. Not sure of who else is out there. With the depleted draft picks now I expect us to sign more free agents to fill our holes.

I wouldn't mind shoring up the defensive line with a Ndamukong Suh signing. 2 years for 20 million.

Our total, with all our picks was $9.5. now it's reduced. The rookie contracts are pre determined by the CBA so unlike the past. The #s are not very high.
The 3 gets $5,521,907 ,our total pool for all draft picks now is $8,485,56.
Even the Browns with 2 top 5 picks, 3 seconds , 4th,5th and 2 6th round picks are only at $17,050,144

are we re-signing Jermaine Kearse? I liked his play last season and him, robby and Enunwa would be a good triple threat.

Jets still have about 25-30mil in cap room after you minus out rookies. here are some targets that can help us

Suh - would be a nice upgrade at DT. can rotate with mclendon and play in 4 man fronts as well along side mclendond and williams

Pouncey - good center and we can move newly acquired long to guard

cushing - not a big need, but a solid ILB who's played in the 3-4. can rotate with lee and williamson

joeckal - solid guard and young. would improve the o-line

mcphee - situational pass rushing OLB. in limited snaps, he's had 21.5 sacks over the past 4 years

    fairley - solid DT

    bennett - veteran TE

    juluis thomas - veteran TE

    eric ebron - veteran TE

pryor - veteran WR with size and speed and has had 1000 yard seasons

Austin - depth WR but a nice boost to the KR/PR game

aldon smith - legal issues aside, he's 28 and was a growing force in the league at one time at OLB

greg robinson - young LT for depth

Koa Misi - solid OLB used to playing in the 3-4

kony ealy - nobody has signed him yet, his value has dropped. we should eb able to bring him back cheap. he's 26 and played well for us last year

Of the list, I like the following:

Suh, McLendon is okay, but he hasn't stopped us from missing Harrison. Quickness and agility might make it possible for him to line up at DE as well. With Wilkerson gone there is definitely room for upgrade on the DL.

Pouncey, a good OL player is always welcome.

Ealy, agree, played well for us, hope they resign him.

Always liked Fairly. Didn't realize he was a free agent this go around.

Now that we don't have any 2nd round picks, Macc needs to bring in OL and pass catchers in FA. Those positions were weak to begin with, are vital to any young QBs success, and for them to be ignored thus far while losing draft picks is irresponsible.

Still time to fix things though

    @SolidGoldBowles

Another solid analysis. Thank you. How much money do we have left and what do you think will get to sign folks you want us to sign?

Give me your realistic shopping list.

Bates offense includes a lot of two TE sets. While we have Leggett and Tomlinson on the roster, it's hard to imagine them not looking hard at the available TEs.

Joeckel provided the price is reasonable. He's had trouble staying healthy and inconsistent when he's on the field, but still young enough to improve. Jets need all the OL help they can get this offseason.

we have around 25-30mil to spend still

realistically speaking we could probably sign 2-3 "bigger names" and maybe 1-2 depth guys

grabbing a TE would be great. eric ebron is young and coming off his rookie contract. he hasn't lived up to his 1st round draft status, but he's still a good pass catching TE and would cost in the 4-5mil a year range

mcPhee isn't an every down backer, but shouldn't cost much either is is still under 30. He's gonna get you 5 sacks a year as a situational pass rusher. should cost only 3-4 mil a season

pouncy will cost more, maybe in the 8mil a year range, but he's a young center and a big upgrade to the o-line

fairley won't cost much and could be a great addition to the o-line. probably in the 6-7mil range

ealy would be in the 5-6 range at this point

austin should only cost about 3-4 mil a year

so i think we could add austin, fairley, ealy, pouncy, and ebron for around 28mil which would be all our cap but we'd get a nice boost to the o-line (williams, fairly, ealy, mclendon) a veteran TE who can catch and stretch the field, an above average center which allows long to play guard and sure up the inside of our o-line. and add in a big special tams boost with austin as well as WR depth. Hopefully mouldin returns and can play the role i'd expect from mcphee

Any potential upgrades for OL and pass rush, plus a solid TE who can catch and block.

    OL - Pouncy, Joeckel
Pass rush - Smith, Ealy, Misi, McPhee if cheap
    TE - no preference
Don't really want Suh because he's an asshole and might produce more disruption on the Jets than the opponents.

Draft is TE-heavy, correct? Who might be there for us Round 3?

I read earlier on Twitter we're close to re-signing Ealy, and it should get done today. I could see us landing Pryor, throwing him a bit more because we have the $ on a 1-year, prove it deal.
