It was not an impressive win, as the Dolfags really do stink. They had no running game to speak of, so the D was able to T off on him and they got a couple of sacks. asking Beck to throw the rock 40 times is like waving the white flag.

While he is a talented player, I'm noticing alot of dropped passes from Brad Smith. Needs to make those clutch catches and be a threat in the passing game.

I think you start Brad Smith the rest of the year to see if the added reps can get him in the vicinty of a decent WR. The guy is certainly talented and knows the game, but I am starting wonder if he is a man player without a position.

I actually hope Brad Smith is our full time backup QB next year. If Clemens goes down, play Smith at QB. He offers some mobility and he did well in college at QB. I saw he had a TD at WR today, but he aint a WR. I think he could be a solid number 2 QB, and we have other young WR I'd like to see play now that we're out of it (and have been for a while).

Lets see what another training camp will do for Smith...i'm not ready to give up on him just yet. I think the coaching staff has to focus more on his WR skills, especially catching in traffic and learning how to use his body for position.

For those saying that the play calling was too conservative against Miami, I have a question: does no one give any consideration to the (in my opinion, very likely) possibility that the play calling was conservative today for a very specific reason?

Namely, it was Miami. You don't need to outsmart them. You can outplay them. They're that bad.

I thought our Defense played great today, we had what 6 turnovers? three forced fumbles and 3 int's? our offense put up 40 points, albeit we had to settle for 4 or 5 fieldgoals. We still put up 40 for the first time since 2004. Can we at least be happy about a win for once?

On the Brad Smith issue, I think he will be fine, normally year 3 is stellar for WR in the pros. For a guy who's still making the positional transition give the man a break. He did have a big drop last week, but a big TD this week.

Year 3 for a player that is NOT a WR. I'm all for giving a guy a fair go , IF theres talent there that can be developed.
Brad Smith is a lovely guy who does not have good hands , does not have blazing speed and is 50/50 at running routes. All that adds up to to being a HUGE project.
If we are going to develope him into anything try QB. To his credit he did say that he didn't want to be a WR , looks like he was right.

You obviously didn't watch the preseason games when he was forced to throw. Zero pocket presence and negative zero accuracy.

I'd hope for anyone OTHER than Smith to be our backup QB.

I completely agree. I think all of this trickaration is hindering his development as a wide out.

Why don't we call him what he really is, a special teams player in a wide receiver imposter costume....

He has been and has been doing poorly as a WR. I really like this kids athleticism but he needs to improve drastically at WR to be considered even a real #3 receiver at this point.

Ben Graham has not been the same Ben I knew last year. He has not had a good year, IMO.

We have to understand this guy is not a genuine WR so if we are going to use him we have to exploit all his weapons. He should be throwing the ball more from behing the line passes. We need to use him as a mulit-functional player and not just as a #3 WR. I thought that mangenious would have tap this resource a little bit more than he has this year.
