My 2 cents - the candidates to replace Mangini should be:

    1) Spagnoulo
    2) Martyballs
    3) Pete Carroll
    4) Rex Ryan
    5) Patrick Ewing
    6) Joe Willie Namath
    ...
    2424) Schotty Jr.
    2425) Shanahan
    2426) Billick

    Pat Ewing??? Interesting choice.

And since Joe Willie offered his two cents earlier this season, maybe he'd like a shot.
Imagine Joe Willie's press conferences compared to Mangina's? He'll crack open a bottle of booze and hit on the female reporters.

Billick would be in my top 10. He was a great head coach and I think is being way under looked.

I got to agree with Favrenstein here. Billick had below average offenses for most of his years with Balitimore. Without the consistently good / great defenses (which I imagine he didn't have too much input in) Baltimore would not have had nearly as much success. Without the assurance of a great DC what would be Billick's value?

I think Billick would be an excellent choice. Fire, Passion, wanting to win. All I know is he has a Super Bowl Ring on his finger and he can kick some ass if someone doesn't do the play right.

    Bring him in.

What happened to the rumor that Billick and Nolan wanted to be a package deal with Nolan as the DC?

I'd be OK with Billick or even Fassel. Hey, why stop there? Even Ditka. Johnson or Madden sound good to me! Any guy who has some Super Bowl experience sounds good! But whoever thought that Belichek's ball boy, who had no real experience and was one of the worst Jets coaches of all time, should own up to it. Mangini was the worst of all time. And suck on it anyone who thinks otherwise. Mangini was the WORST!

ANY other NFL coach given those $140 million in free agents (most of whom made the PRO BOWL), AND a certain HOF QB, and perhaps the greatest QB ever to play the game hould have been able to coach this Jets team into (AT LEAST!) the playoffs...

Man oh Mangini... I cannot believe how this loser has screwed up my beloved Jets.

I'd take Billick if he brought in Marvin Lewis as DC. Hell, I'd take him if he didn't. Second highest spit per second guy out there, and number one already said no.

Oh for the love of god, you must be a young fan. Mangini was 100 times better than Cotite.

Mangini was "100 times better than Kotite?"
Did Kotite have an HOF QB like Favre?
I know Hess spent a lot ofr free agent talent just like Woody did but...
Did Kotite have the talent that Mangini did?
And believe me, if Mangini stuck around, this team would have gone 1-15 or worse.
And since you're calling Mr Kotite "Cotite," I hafta think you are a Dolphins fan or something.

No, accept my misspelling out of brain cells lost watching his teams, and much effort expensed to forget those years. Kotite had excellent talent, as Parcells proved. The vast majority (I'd venture 70-80% of the starters) of those Kotite guys were starting on our 1998 team.
