destroyed the ravens? The stats may say so, but the game was never close. If the ravens smashed the broncos, I fully expect the same thing with the jets. I don't think you guys will have any problems.
Last time we won in Denver was when Wesley Walker ran GOTO-85 and beat the Broncos on a 75-yard bomb from Matt Robinson. I listened to the call with Marty Glickman and Dave Herman !
They can throw all they want, the Ravens ran wild on their D and I'd hope that we follow suit with a better rushing attack then Baltimore. This is a chance to make a statement that even on a short week and a near cross country trip we are the team to beat. If last night's win was against the Pats or Steeler's I'd expect a let down but if not for some piss poor weather at inoppurtune times we win by 17 points last night. As long as Revis can go we should win this week.
As I said in another thread. Look for a heavy dose of the ground game as the Jets will look to control the clock and keep the pass happy Broncos off the field. Especially if Coleman and Revis are out. Marquis Cole will have to see some time if that is the case.
Traditionally, we don't play well in Denver so here's a great opportunity to bury another ghost from the past. Particularly 1998 if memory serves. Since Kyle is gonna have to put the ball up 50 times just to stay in this game, I'm hoping we see alot more coverage sacks and perhaps, God willing, not getting burned on 3rd and long blitzes that seem to always be just a half second late.
I understand your thinking, but in Denver you don't want to be less than two scores ahead in the fourth quarter. That's where their home field advantage in the form of thin air comes in. But it's also true the Jets can rest their D better with that approach. I merely mean that they need to score TD's and not FG's.
The Jets have only played in denver twice since 1998. In 1999 they won at denver and in 2005 they lost.
At least this season, the road to Dallas doesn't go thru Denver. I'm just hoping they kill off another ghost.
Denver can throw the football, but they've been playing from behind also when coverage has gotten soft. They also haven't been making plays in the redzone. When your entire offense is basically passing, and you call pass plays 75% of the time...the numbers are going to look good. Another thing worth noting is that they've played jacksonville, seatle and indy who are three of the worst passing defenses in the league anyways, that is good news. that defense is down to nobody. Even the backups are hurt. their secondary was already pretty crappy to begin with outside of Champ, who isn't even what he used to be.
The Jets should be able to run all day long against Denver. If the Jets can keep the pass even remotely contained, it should be a win. Their run game is non-existent. These are all NFL teams though, you never write anyone off. I expect Orton to get his 300 yards. The Jets are not holding teams to minimal passing yards this year anyway. As long as those 300 yards are in garbage time and include an INT or 2, I'm good. I'd like to see Sanchez have a solid game also.
Also, Elvis Dumervil is out for the year, the Broncos can't run the ball, and Orton has been sacked quite a bit this year. Jets need to run the ball down their throats, they've had their issues with that. -X-
I think people are underestimating them quite a bit. They were right in the Colts game all the way until the end and in the 3rd quarter against the Ravens they wer solidly in the game. I don't expect to blowout the Broncos like the Ravens did last week. They have 4 WR's that look dangerous compared to our 1 good healthy CB and 1 good injured CB. Do I think we'll win? Yes..but barely.
never forget how hard it is to play in the rarified air of Denver, especially if you are running all over the field for sixty minutes
