The 2004 draft was probably better considering the picks we had. We had a great draft this year, but look at the picks we had. In 2004 we got Vilma and Coleman, who started from day 1. Straight who never worked out, Adrian Jones who started in year two, Cotch who's obviously great now, but was arguably as good as B Smith in year one. Considering we didn't have a 2nd round pick, or a #4 overall pick, or 2 picks in the first round, we probably did better with what we had in that draft.

I can see your point about 04, my point was that so far 06 has been very good in that so many players have made an immediate impact. In fact looking back over 10 years no other draft has had so many play immediately. Now whether that was just a function of Mangini's willingness to use young players and Herm's lack of trust in them remains to be seen.

3 years down the road who knows about 2006. It all depends. I think Mangold has more upside then either Vilma, Coleman, or Cotchery. Meaning I think he is sure to make at the very least a couple of Pro-bowls. I think Vilma is the only one to match that talent, however not in a 3-4.

Ferguson can be a Probowler or average, he needs to bulk up. Normally it takes OL 3-5 years to even begin to reach their peak, freaks of nature notwithstanding, which Ferg clearly isn't. I believe that he can make himself into that type of player. That is only my opinion though.

The Smith's, L. Washington all have good talent but need time to develop.

    E. Smith- He can possibly take E. Coleman's place as safety.

    B. Smith- He can be an exceptional WR given his football acumen and ability to scare other teams when he is on the field. Considering the fact this was his first year ever at the position, he did well.

    L. Washington- When he gets into space, he is a dynamo. The question is can he physically develop into a Tiki barber type? If he can not, behind a good O-line he can still be a dynamic scat back.

    D. Coleman- The jury is out, he had that one missed tackle and was never seen from again.

In reality it is too early to tell how the 06 draft shakes out. However for immediate gratification purposes it has been real good so far. If I was a betting man, which I am, I think this will go down as one of the best in years. It only takes 2-3 players to to develop exceptional, for that to be the case, going by past drafts for the Jets.

ok miami, you win a spelling b. now go ask mommy for a cookie. lol you say prove koppen is better than mangold. duh!! how stupid are your responses going to get. prove otherwise, and your opinion is not proof. you come back with the lamest responses when you make some of your moronic posts. as far as last years drafted players having played some during the season is proof they are quality nfl player's is lame also. with the talent on the jets, they played out of necessity, unless you think barlow is nfl quality competition, same case for the other drafted players thatwere competing for playing time.

with a name like miamipuck, it makes me think you were a fin fan that got thrown out of all their forums b/c of the unintelligable,a$$nine posts you come out with and wagon jumped your way to a jet forum.
oh,by the way, PROVE ME WRONG!!!

Speaking of lame, in the animal kingdom old washed up (lame) animals such as yourself usually get eaten or die and wither away. Please do the same.

BTW that gibberish you just posted is some of the funniest stuff I have ever read about myself. Seriously if you want to try and make fun of me ever again, please do so, I can always use a laugh. That is only if nature does not run its course.

If we trade a 2nd rounder for Randal gay, we may have to re-adress this thread... I may also have to kill myself because that is about the worst move I could imagine.
