The only report I found on google was from Bob Papa and he said: "This is what I've been told and what I've heard," Papa said on the air. "They worked out something where they had it down to about a three-month jail term with actually only two months served and about 1,500 hours of community service. And I think his lawyers felt that they had a pretty good deal. He doesn't want to go to jail at all. He shot down the deal. . . . He does not want to go to jail at all. So now coming up in another couple of weeks we're gonna find out what's gonna happen. But my guess is that the city of New York is not gonna back off any kind of jail time. "Evidently, he's gonna have to go to Ryker's Island," Papa added. "He's deathly afraid of going. . . . f he would have just taken the deal when it originally was offered it would all be over with by now. But supposedly the community service hours and the jail time are not appealing to him." Considering the source, The Giants play-by-play voice Bob Papa, I think everyone needs to take this article with a grain of salt lol. This is not FACT. That also just came out a little over a week ago. That's nothing more than hearsay. Again nothing more than his opinion and version of what he heard. Strictly hearsay. I see it's also a huge google hit on the Giants message boards. Wow what a shocker! Until I hear the NY DA come out and make a statement that any attempts at a plea have been rejected by the Burress camp I still stand by what I said. I'm shocked that some would take a biased Giants reporter words as the letter of the law. It may not be false yet it may not be true. Noone knows.
^ I guess we should value your opinion of the situation over someone who claims to have specific details of the situation? Who knows if it's true or not, but he reported that with his name/rep attached to it. You're right, it doesn't make much sense for him to turn that deal down, that was my exact thought when I read it.
burress will be anything but cheap! there are and will be other teams after his services once his legal problems are resolved, if they get resolved!
As of today, the 2 teams showing real interest are the Jets and the Bucs. Compared to the other receivers we were considering and Plax's on the field performance, he'd be a bargain!
the jets have nobody qb's, and the bears have cutler. now if your burress, who do you want to play for?
the giants reporter was quoting another report, not his own. and the plea deal was indeed turned down by the burress camp. sorry i can't get plax to call you and confirm it for you, but he said he's never heard of jetsnation06 and could care less...
yes i can, and in jets green too. he shot HIMSELF in the leg. nobody else was hurt. in the category of stupid things nfl players do shooting himself in the leg isn't that big a deal. he is facing charges for the illegal possesion of the gun, not exactly the hot button issue of the day. if the nfl decides to take no action on him nobody will give a shit.
Shooting himself in the leg isn't the problem. Endangering the lives of hundreds of people by illegally and ignorantly discharging an illegal firearm in a crowded club is the problem. He could have killed people, he just got lucky and didn't.
I agree. If Marshawn Lynch can get 3 games for his stupidity, then Plax should get at least 10 games to a year.
