I won't argue the significance of any of them except maybe Mangold who couldn't possibly be called an upgrade over Mawae.
You are wasting your time bro. This line up of doom and gloom would prevail over the Red Sox this year. LOL at Tannenbaum on the hot seat. Hey once again in 2 drafts this guy has brought in more young players with shitloads of talent in 2 consecutive drafts then any Jet FO I can remember. He has brought in 9 players in the last 2 drafts that are going to be the cornerstone of this franchise. In a year or 2 when they really develop this team will be at the very least a damn site better than what they have showed this season. Thank the lucky stars not a single person in this thread, save a few, have any say in the inner workings of this club. It is pretty damn clear that winning in the NFL is not accomplished through firing a coach every season and a half. Especially during a rough patch with the worst Jet QB performance in modern history. Alio, You are correct. No matter how bad the D has been this year, and they were bad, with a real live mediocre NFl QB 2-3+ of those games are w's. Chad Pennington gave what amounts to the worst 5 game performance of any Jet QB I can remember. Mangini gave him the rope and short of making the noose and kicking the chair out from under Chad, allowed him to hang himself. Was that smart coaching fuck no, letting Chad have 3 more weeks of nauseating, coma inducing football is on Mangini, other than that I will not complain.
Tannenbaum is as much on the hot seat as Mangini is and for two reasons. First he hired Mangini and secondly if they decided a coaching change was needed and then decided that they wanted a proven coach, that person would most likely want complete control which means being GM as well as head coach. Of course they could go the same route they went this time and get somebody with no experience at all in which case Tannenbaum would survive.
First he is not on the hot seat, especially on your say so. Secondly, it is not the GM's job to coach. Third, he has done an excellent job at drafting. Four, he did not over spend on the shit, mediocre Jag's that were available in Fa that would not made any difference whatsoever on this team. Five, he has brought this team out of salary cap hell. Six, you are fucking dreaming if 1, 5 game losing streak is going to get Mangini fired...................
Don, I really try not to rip you like some people do, but you're crazy if you think Mangold now is not a HUGE upgrade over Mawae now. (Same goes for last year.)
the team has been in its games, and with a new QB that can force opposing defenses to stay honest and move the ball, can very well go 4-4 and finish with 5 wins. not bad, not great, and some would point to a .500 finish with a "rookie" QB something to build on and a good sign of Mangini's abilities. I, on the other hand, think even if we go 6-2 or 7-1 with Clemens to finish the season (unlikely), that the bad start alone is enough to fire Mangini. I don't care if we finish great, if Mangini really knew how to coach he would have made the change 4 weeks ago and given this team a chance at the playoffs. if we finish great, Mangini's refusal to switch QB's would have clearly cost this team a season and exemplifies his incompetence. sure, people would applaud the great finish, but ultimately that inability to make sound personnel decisions will just come back to haunt us again with another player at some time, and this franchise can't afford to blow seasons just because the coach doesn't know what he is doing. of course, if the team continues to lose, that is a moot point and Mangini should be fired simply for the overall bad job all year. for me, it is a no win situation for him at this point because he waited too long to make the right decision that everyone could see except him. the last thing this team needs is a delusional coach that will just stick his head in the sand and pretend everything is okay when it clearly isn't.
I saw the second half of our game in the bar after attending the Dolphins game this week. Can I tell you now that if we lose to Cleo Lemon, everyone deserves to be fired. That guy is not a QB, and I say that having never seen an NFL game in the flesh before. Wembley experience was great, fwiw.
