^Is it Rick Lyle??? If so, can anyone tell me what moment in Jets history the following pic is from Please don't cheat. I don't have a chance to save it to my own images yet.
I'd have to guess from 11/2/97 after John Hall kicked the game-winning FG in OT against the Ravens....
I watched that game in a bar in Vegas, it was raining in NJ if I remember correctly. The following year I went to Vegas again for Halloween week and Hall made a kick to win a game at KC, also in the rain but on a worse field.
Yes, most of that Ravens game was played during a thunderstorm however when the Jets started to drive during the OT period, the sun actually broke through. The KC game the following year was played in torrential rain right after halftime. The outcome of the KC game really shocked me - in previous years the Jets would have found ways to blow the game and did. This game the Jets tried to blow the game and didn't. This was the crossroads of the '98 season. The Jets followed up the MNF NE upset with a beating of the eventual 14-2 Falcons and then this game putting them at 5-3 setting them up for a killer second half....
The biggest play in that KC game was the Aaron Glenn KR that set up the TD pass to Brady- what a perfectly thrown ball that was. I could not believe it wasn't picked.
I was at that game, Atlanta was missing their QB, I forget who played but he was like 44 years old. Still, we crushed them, which made the Denver loss in the playoffs so much more painful. We would have destroyed Atlanta in the Super Bowl.
Steve DeBerg, Jerome henderson had a TD of a fumble return in that game. We beat them 28-3 but that team was a completely different team w/o Chris Chandler. I am confident we would have won but I don't think we would have beaten them as bad as we did at home.
