Good to see there are others who echo my sentiments. Going into the game, victory was a long shot... BUT when we were in the game and held our own down to the final minute, it BECOMES hard breaking to lose it! At that point it was no longer a long shot to win. It was reasonable. Hell maybe we even had a better chance than the Colts. To lose in that fashion is absolutely the worst outcome imaginable.
You're setting yourself up Metfan. I don't want to get into the Mets/content with mediocracy mindset:smile:
Sorry we all can't be Derek Jeter fans and win everything under the sun. I agree the loss sucked, but you had to see it coming, even after we ran the KO back. I was excited too, but our D just got off the field and we left Manning way too much time. A return to the 50 or so would have been better, give Chad the ball knowing Indy had no TOs and I'd have actually liked our chances better. Of course you can't tell Justin Miller to stop running, but I almost wished he hadn't gone all the way. I'd have loved to see us get a pick or a strip or something, but the Colts are one of the best teams in recent memory at what they do, so that's the way it went.
After the KO return,i really thought we had it. After a few plays of Manning being successful on some throws,i thought Mangini would send Rhodes on a blitz or something. I still don't understand sitting back in coverage and sending no rush for 2 drives with the game in your hands. Beofre kickoff,i had already accepted a loss,by the 2 minute warning, unaccepted. Go Yankees:grin:
How many top flight DL and OL men came in under Herm? It's no coincedence that he has now killed 3 quarterbacks in 2 years. The Jets are terrible in the trenches as a direct result of Bradway/Herm. The Jets lose that game 34 to 17 if Herm is the HC.
You think you're annoyed now, wait until the entire team, rookies especially, run out of gas in week 12.
I should say I'm not "pleased" at all with the outcome of the game. BUT this team rose above the expectations I had going into the game. We didn't have the game won..that never happens against Manning until the clock reads zero. I still think that call on Justin Miller was bullcrap and that was the call that set Peyton up for the win. Like I said before..I'm proud of the game that was played by the team.
Yup, when it comes down to it, a win is a win, a loss is a loss. Just gotta put it behind and move onto week 5 in jax. If we win, we can be 6-2 at the bye.
how bout the reasoning of reality, that the Colts are a much better team, simple as that....and we frankly had no business even being that close in the first place...
The press loved Herm and hated Mangini. They would love to run Mangini out of town. Maybe it has to do with the fact that people understand the Jets are a flawed team and while Mangini made a huge error that may have cost us the game, he has done a lot right to put us in position to win games where we were outmanned.
lol, Jet fans some of us are really funny, I didnt see the game, I folowed it on the threads right here. After the Colts scored people were predicting a massacre, after the game became competitive , of course we wanted to win. I will not blame the CS for this at all, ittakes Guts to call an on sides kick and then go for it twice on 4th down, why should they not go for it in the end zone after everything else had gone our way, with the on sides kick and the previous 4th down conversions, heck even Sean Ellis got two sacks. I had the jets winning 5 games at the beginning of the season and this Indy Game was not one of the 5.I am proud of what they did, afterall Indy is undefeated and one of the best teams in the country.Whether you like to call it a loss or a moral victory, they played well for the most part, yes they struggled in the first quarterm, but after that they were always in the game.
sure doesn't sound like they're slapping eachother's asses. They sounds just as heartbroken as I was. We did manage to play an impressive game, and I guarantee no one was picking us to compete the way we did. It definitely bodes well for the future, but still... that hurt. Our defensive line and offensive line still need a lot of work.
I'm not happy about the loss, but I certainly don't want to run Mangini out of town over it either. There's a difference between accepting a loss and being happy about it. Obviously I'd be happier if we won, but there were positives in this one, and as long as we work to improve on it we should be okay.
Oh,i agree. Mangini so far is the best thing to happen to this team in a long time. I love how he has this team playing. They are aggressive, expecially on O and they have no quit. I was just dissapointed in 50% of the last 3 minutes.
I can surely understand the frustation. The only real gaping hole I see right now is the one that keeps opening up in our defensive line everytime somebody wants to run the ball on us. Until we can show and prove that we are capable of stopping the run, every team we play from here on in will try to exploit that. We will lose games we should have won on that fact alone. I don't really see this as a coaching issue at the moment. We need some talented beef on our D line and that will make a world of difference. We never said everything was going to be fixed this year. I think it is just the fact that Mangini has this team playing much better than expected and Chad seems like he is back to 2002 form, so we are all starting to believe. I believe, but I beleive the best is yet to come, and it probably, ultimately will not be this year. I am still proud of how we darn near beat an elite team. We had them really sweating it out. I do think we earned a lot of respect yesterday. I know it doesn't give us a W, but still, we proved we can play with the best. That is far, far better than I could hope for at this point.
I am not satisfied with the way our D is playing at all, but I am still thrilled that this projected "Raider" like team is making a statement to the elite teams in the league. We as fans should be happy that there is signs of massive improvement, and it looks like we are truely headed back in the right direction. You are right though, the players should be very disgusted with their mistakes. They should work very hard this week to improve their technique/flaws going into Jax. I have no doubt that they are completely focused, and Mangini is making those mistakes WELL known throughout the facility. I am a fan of the game, and this team. I am optimistic that they will keep improving those major flaws that they have shown so far. I will leave all of the disgust, and bad plays to be handled by the CS. I refuse to ponder, and get frustrated about all of those things as a fan though. I am here to just support my team, and have faith that they will do what is needed to keep improving this team. I have no doubt that they will get the job done for their fans.
I'm glad the Suicide Watch will have one less Jet Fan to worry about come Week 12. I guess us losing a close game by making coaching mistakes is completely unheard of in JetLand. I wonder what the reaction will be late in the season when the defense has nothing left in the tank from being on the field so often. I would imagine the "fire Mangini" theads will start????? Jet Fans... A Strange bunch indeed. After almost 40 years, Patience is a liability now...
At this point, we are already having a lot of "Jets" fans wanting Sutton out the door. After 4 games? Crazy talk, just crazy...
