Because right now we have all question marks on the team where as in 2009 we had a top 5 run game, OL, defense, and Special teams. The only out top 10 part of the team in 2009 and 2010 was the offense. Right now on paper this 2013 is nowhere near close to top 5 in any category except maybe defense, which again, is still up in the air. Right now it's ridiculous to say this team is more talented than 2009 or 2010. You can sure hope to believe it will be, but it's not true right now. Maybe it will be true after 2013, but not right now man. Santonio, Braylon, Cotch, Keller, Greene, LT, Sanchez in 2010 is better than injured Santonio, question mark Hill, Kerley, Winslow, Powell, question mark, question mark Sanchez. You can believe this 2013 group will be better, but it isn't true right now. I'm hoping your right, but nothing at all points to this team being more talented than 2009 or 2010. You can talk all you want, but it is NOT true right now. Maybe end of the season you will be right, but right now, not even close.
hal on at 2pm and author on at 3pm so with all the damm commercials and 20/20, its about 42 minutes and that's that.
Still a lot more season to be played yet. Last night was a good start in spite of blowing the lead late. Rex and Co., to be fair about it, should be judged on the entire season's body of work, not just one game.
Great HC Great coaching staff Looking forward to Rex getting a long term (5 years or more) extension before the bye. Clearly deserved Ewbank (HOF) Parcells (HOF) Ryan the only three GREAT head coaches in NYJ franchise history... Rex should join the other two in Canton when he finally retires as HC of the NYJ in 2026 or so
I am not qualified to talk about Ryan in a pool hall discussion. But here are a few things I like about the guy: His mouth. He's not afraid to say what he means. His guts. He does things on the field that a lot of head coaches would shy away from. I like his ability to stick with his people even if they screw up. Although that is a double edged sword ...... I don't like his thing for feet. Mainly, what it comes down to is are the teams chances better with a new change of headsets or not. I thought Yes, up till a few days ago, but looking at the lack of success that new coaches have shown in the league the last couple of years. Would sacking Rex really do much? Bill Parcells said their are two types of coaches, those who coach, and those who coach and build. Rex may need help with the later but that's why he's got Idzik. We all know he can do the later. It feels like we are on the cusp of something, I don't know. We have a quarterback who may solve our biggest problem and are coming off a great win. How many games do we have to win for Woody to be happy?
If people here needed up to a few days ago to realize that Rex and his CS are the real deal, they should follow another sport or another team. Rex has been their best HC since Parcells. And you have to go all the way to Walt Michaels to even find one that comes close. He knows what's needed to make a team competitive , it's in his genes man! I'm not one for name callings but the idiots that make "rex must go" threads, are just that , complete idiots. That said, I have to give Rex a lot of credit for sticking with Geno, as I thought he would have and should have been benched after the fiasco in Tennessee. Geno's is making believers out many , including myself. God bless you Rex, you deserve to remain a Jet for as long as it takes.
I'm looking forward to Rex getting an extension at the end of the season after the Jets have played well in December for the first time in three years. I'm hoping that everybody is on board with Rex as the face of the franchise at that point. He and Idzik are a good pair, with Rex's in-your-face outgoing personality allowing smooth maneuvers behind the scenes by a guy who'd rather somebody else had the spotlight in a productive way. Of course if the Jets flop in December again we're in a different place, and unfortunately so.
I'd say Rex has been a better coach for the Jets then Parcells was. I'm 24 years old, and he's the best coach i've ever seen for the Jets. The Jets would be crazy to get rid of him.
50 penalties in 5 games. 14 or so turnovers in 5 games. 0 for the season on challenges. taking penalties when trying to go for it on 4th and 1 id hardly call that excellent. the offensive playcalling is better, outside of that it has been a complete shit show. rex is a great defnsive mind. he isnt a great head coach. id love it if he'd take a demotion, but that will never happen, so ill be fine with it when we bring in someone new next year
right, i mean any coach could turn a 1-15 jets team around in 2 years and take them to the AFC championship with vinny testaverte a guy who was a turnover machine for years prior to coming on board.
so he has been better then hall of fame coaches like eric mangini and al groh? what an amazing feat!?
So far we have 14th in offensive yards per game and 2nd in defensive yards per game. We'll see what happens, but I can't remember the last time our O was ranked that high. Hopefully they can keep that going.
Agreed on those points Barcs. What really counts is where we stand after week 17. I'm already surprised and hopefully, I'll continue to be surprised by season's end.
