He's made tens of millions off the joke of a franchise. Why continue to get his ass pounded every week in that dump of a city when he can sit poolside in SoCal and live off the interest his millions are making?
Pretty sure if he had say 4 years left on his deal, then retired, 4 years later if he came back he would still have to play 4 years with the Bengals.
Exactly. Palmer claims that he's saved about $80 million, so he's going to be financially secure for the rest of his life. Throughout his career he's torn his ACL, MCL and Meniscus, dislocated his patella tendon, and torn his elbow. Why submit himself to more pain for a franchise he can't stand, which has no chance to win? Move back to the beach and develop a drug habit Carson, you've earned it.
I'm sure Andy Dalton is very excited to play for this team. Palmer is redundant now that they drafted a Dalton, and they won't even get rid of Palmer to clear cap space and acquire draft picks to help build a team around him.
I don't know why anyone was surprised that it took so long for the lockout to end when you look around the league and see that a large percentage of teams are owned by stubborn, senile, old idiots like Mike Brown, Al Davis, Jerry Richardson, or Ralph Wilson.
I understand why Brown personally doesn't want to give in, but he's an idiot if he doesn't show a willingness to deal him right now. There's too many teams in need of a starting/veteran QB to not get SOMETHING for him. Palmer hasn't been great the last few seasons, but he'd be serviceable enough to a QB needy team, especially if he ended up in the NFC West.
Maybe hell go play in the CFL, set Canada on fire, and raise his stock to the point the Bengals trade his rights.
Well I guess he can afford to be miserable! I think Carson is right on this one. This franchise sucks and his body has been getting pounded for years. If he can afford to retire, why not. It's not like his body couldn't use the time to heal! If the team gives in and decides to trade him (to get something back for him) then he will be in better physical condition for the grind of the NFL.
no, he's a hypocrite. he talks about Palmer making a commitment with the length of his contract, but the Bengals cut players all the time, so it isn't as if he believes that there is actually a commitment that demands to be upheld with a contract. just because the rules allow for the teams to cut players doesn't mean the contract doesn't indicate a commitment as he believes, it means the team is allowed to back out of the commitment.
I think the next time someone starts whining about Woody we just tneed to put a pic of Mike Brown in the thread.
or snyder. or...... i'm sure there's a number of owners that most would agree would rather have woody. i don't get the woody hate.
