It just occurred to me that if the internet had existed in 1974 the title of this thread would have been "JOE ...picks picks picks!" And in multiple places in the thread people would have responded "All he does is win!", "How can you just give up on the captain like that?" and "I'm as much a Namath fan as I am a Jet's fan!" Of course Joe Willie was basically done by then and the bottom fell out the following season for good. It wasn't his fault, he had had three surgeries on one knee and one on the other by that point and he just did not have the mobility to play QB in the NFL any more. The picks were because he was throwing the ball to avoid sacks and he hated losing so he'd throw the ball in the field of play and hope that Barkum or Caster would come down with it instead of the other guy.
