Ah... that bad? And I'm guessing you don't think a scheme switch would help him then. Who would you go after in free agency?
The problem with that assumtption is in order to keep Hunter you are now committing to running 22 and 21 personnel, which forces the defense to react by getting BIGGER. What you want ideally is to go to a base offense with 11 Personnel (with Keller as the TE) to for e the defenses to get smaller. We already have the offensive pieces in place to gothat way. A 3 wr posession oriented offense. We should be looking to go back to the offense we ran under Parcells, where power was an option, not a necessity. It's been killing me that we've never run the crack toss with Greene. He don't have martins feet, but he IS capable of making a lb or sAfety quit by the 4th qtr
No, we won't be the only team interested in OTs and the reality is that we may have to pay more than $3 million to get the RT we want. It will be worth it. A veteran is the best way to go for 2012. Probably anyone on that list would be better than Hunter. Hunter is awful. Kareem McKenzie is better. He isn't the long term answer, but if the Jets draft a RT somewhere in rounds 3-5 and give him a year or two to learn behind McKenzie, that could work out very well. As far as other names, I don't want other games that much and don't keep up with other teams. Other names that I have seen other posters on this and other Jets sites mention are Breno Giacomini, Levi Brown, Demetrius Bell, and Jared Gaither.
And your point is? That is a ridiculous statement. Ferguson had an off year. Hunter has never been worth a damn. He's a career backup.
Ferguson only gave up more sacks because he plays the blindside. If Sanchez wasn't able to see players flying off the right edge, Hunter would easily have allowed 30 sacks. Mark has escapability, thankfully, even if people can't recognize it.
Yes, he was that bad. There were times when I thought he was being paid under the table to get Sanchez hurt. That bad. Since the offense is finally moving toward power running again, I wouldn't mind seeing Kareem McKenzie back in the fold.
Not only that but I thought he took a big step back performance wise this year. That hip was really nagging him. He may end up being a difficult decision. He's done alot of great things for this team and is considered a leader. But he's smallish for this system, has seen better days and if i'm not mistaken has a hefty cap number for this coming year. I do not use these words or this comparison lightly: Vlad Ducasse has Larry Allen type ability. He's one of the few I have ever seen handle Ngota on his outside shoulder w/ no help. He's freakishly strong and mobile. If things can be simplified for him and if the fans can let him play through a few mistakes(which is what he needs) his upside is all pro level.
Just what the hell are you talking about? A rookie could ass rape this road pylon. He does not have either the balance, the strength or the technique to play RT. Did you see the dismal footwork right there? That is not a footwork of NFL tackle. If Hunter had barely adequate footwork there, von Miller wouldn't have pushed him off that easily. In order for the scheme change to benefit Hunter, he has to have at least the most necessary thing down - and that is the footwork. As you have seen in that clip, Hunter has chunks of lead strapped to his ankles. He sucks at protection precisely because of that. Just what makes you think he will benefit from the scheme change? Scheme change doesn't magically give Hunter the fleet foot that he didn't have originally. Maybe it is not as a severe pre-requisite like it was under Callahan's system, but that does not mean you can pass by with lead foot playing tackle in NFL. Hunter just DOES NOT BELONG. Period.
Hunter was and is dog shit..even when he was back up he sucked...w over estimated his ability ans suffered
Are you kidding me? did you watch the playoffs last year filling in for Woody? Mathis and Freeney? Your a fucking hypocrite.
I also found it hard to believe, but I saw it documented when I was looking into the article that showed D'Brick allowed more sacks than Hunter this year. Unfortunately I cannot find that source right now, I believe it was a football outsiders article? I'm not sure. I know this isn't the best source, but pro football focus also shows McKenzie giving up more pressures than Hunter. In fact, PFF has McKenzie as the second worst in pressures allowed with 47 (Trueblood TB had 50). They have Hunter at 37. I wish I could find the other article because I remember it being a better source. I'm pretty sure it was football outsiders.
