Guess well find out as soon as the contract deals go public

But Kerley already owns the #3 spot

    Edit

    #4 spot it is

Jets are still in the market for a #2 reciever

There are bigger needs than that...time to address safety and right tackle!

Its pretty clear that the Jets are not addressing RT at this point.

Its possible that we draft a guy who might play g/rt in the future but im thinknig they have too much faith in Hunter/Ducasse

Safety is pretty important, but we likely have money for both.

Then again we could likely address wr in the draft (or in the form of The Beard)

Does this mean Braylon is out of the picture?

The price of the contract means if Braylons cheap hes still got a chance.

Although him and Schilens both have similar roles, Braylon is obviously significantly more talented

But Braylon HAS to be under 2m to even have a prayer of being on this roster.

And nobody else can have shit for interest in him, cuz if they do theyll be willing to pay more than us

Even if we don't get Braylon or Cotchery in FA it won't kill us but I think we will get one of them and even if we don't the Jets are bound to draft at least one receiver... maybe Nick Toon from Wisconsin. He is big (6'3 and 220) ran a respectable 40 time for his size (4.54). I think he would be a steal if we get him later in the draft.

Could you image two bigfoots running down the sidelines and the middle of the field wide open due to the double coverage they would force on defenses. Sick!

I agree that Braylon is risky. My hope was that they'd bring him back with a short incentive laden contract, and draft a potential long term solution at WR. Like you said, he is "30 with a ten cent head" lol. Perhaps we are overstating Braylon's worth. I just like the guy. I think he really wanted to be here. True, he's not elite, but I hope he comes back.

    correction

And my "not even close" comment referred to the subject of my comment, which was saying that Braylon is better than Cotchery. I think it isn't close between them. I didn't mean to cut at you, sorry dude :). I only cut at Pats fans. :pats_suck:

Well 'asides" from the fact that you obviously took my post too personally and/or seriously, I'm not sure what evidence you need. Plaxico had more touchdowns in '11 than Braylon did in '10. Braylon's YPC was a little better, but their production was fairly similar statistically. And that was before Braylon got hurt.

If you think that someone who might be marginally better than Plax at this point is the answer to our perpetual wide receivers woes, then I pray that you are not Tanny lurking on TGG board.

I cant believe some people think that Mark will have a good year or improve at all from last year with Holmes, Kerley, Shitllins and Turner for wideouts.....You can only ground and pound so much before you need to air it out.

    Braylon

Plax was better in the redzone, but Bray was better between the 20s. I'm glad you pointed out those stats about Plax, because I think he was good for the team in many ways. But overall, I think Braylon is better for the team. Braylon also seemed to have more chemistry with Sanchez. If you go by stats, Braylon doesn't appear to be the answer to the Jets receiver issue, as you have made clear. But when he was here, he was clutch and fit well into the offense. The Jets don't need a big stats receiver. What he could do (assuming he can recover from injury) is stretch the field, block and provide Sanchez with a familiar target for a cheap price.

I can't believe that you don't realize that it's March and there is a 0% chance that will be our official 4 man WR corps in order. Really? Really really?

I fully expect Schillens to be battling for the #2 spot with a WR that we pick up in the draft.

So what, we wont sign a decent safety or RT then(we have little cap room)? Unless we draft Flyod or Blackmon there is a minimal chance that a 5th round wideout steps in and plays like a #2. What do we do resign Braylon like everyone wants? The guy that was cut from a no wideout team last year and had 2 knee operations....so the answer is really really.....

I have the same feelings man.

What a lot of people are missing is that Mark and Braylon had some exceptionally impressive chemistry on and off the field. Braylon was Marks first real big time WR and they always looked on point with each other. Thats something that cannot be replaced by some other WR for quite some time.

I honestly feel if we could bring Braylon back, it would really re-vamp him back into things, Mark and Braylon. Schilens can be a nice off the bench WR and provide a big target in the red zone. Braylon can be our deep threat guy as well as our run blocking WR. Bring in a rookie from the draft that provides value as well as some additions to the defense in both free agency and draft and this team becomes very good again.

I think we have a game plan this offseason, if we can come into the year with a good crop of additions, we have a chance at competing for a Superbowl.

Can't agree with you more here.

It was obvious they had something going that should have never been separated. I knew for sure on that one throw down the sideline against the Colts in the playoffs. Rex wanted to kick the field goal from where they were, but Mark called it and him and Edwards hooked up like it was an everyday walk in the park. Not only did they have a connection, but Mark played comfortably because he knew they had that connection. So much good came out of that. A shame we are here right now HOPING we sign him again. Should have never let him go.

Braylon had a very underrated year and made a ton of clutch catches only to be shuttled off. Why?

Chaz Schil is a walking injury. This guy is more brittle then Pennington or peanut brittle.
