Bray had a great year for us but we absolutely made the lucky move not sign him last year. He wanted so much money and his was out for most of the season with a bad knee. If he is healthy again we get him. I think that works out perfectly
Plaxico Burress's downfield YPC: 6.8 Braylon Edward's downfield YPC: 12.7 That's not 'a little' better. Plaxico fucking sucked. How many 70+ bombs did Burress catch last year? Total of ZERO. Just what the hell are you talking about, son? If you don't know what that means to the entire offense, I suggest you start playing golf or knitting, since it is more than clear that you don't have the mental capacity to understand the football. (Hint: There is a reason why people have been crying out for someone who could stretch the defense - because that opens up 1. running game and 2. underneath route. Plax NEVER provided that threat - neither did he with the Giants, before he was jailed for his own stupidity.)
My question about the #3 wasn't that Schillens would take over for Kerley but more like would Kerley now be a starter. But it looks like Schillens may only be a #4 for us
Kurley will work out of the slot. We need big targets on the outside for sanchez to work with. in an ideal situation it would be nice to have Schillens and Edwards on the field and work holmes in the slot that would be an absolute nightmare for opposing D's. Holmes natural pos. is in the slot im not saying take off the field but if you can work to big WR's on the outside with Holmes in the slot it would take away alot of the double coverage or over the top help that he gets.
Nonsense. I don't want to even begin to address the number of logical fallacies you used in that short post. Alas, I will point out some of it...because how else are you going to learn? There are about 100 wideouts projected to go in the first 3 rounds of this draft. Hill, Sanu, Jeffrey, Wright, we can go all day. It's really not asking too much of Tannenbaum to find a way to use one of his picks in the first 3 rounds to get a receiver that rates to be at least a competent #2. Trading back more or less guarantees this is easily done. Not trading back is almost as easy if WR is a priority and key roles like Safety have been adequately addressed through FA which appears quite possible at the moment. As to your Braylon craziness, he is one of several potential candidates(of which Schillens was also included.) If he seems healthy and fit enough when the time comes and the price is right he will not be a dangerous addition to the roster with Schillens ready to take over that role if necessary.
Braylon is the only WR in this league that could make Sanchez look good for whatever reason. Otherwise, Sanchez is a dick and can't even build chemistry with one of the premier receivers in the league in Holmes.
The two most important and reasonable sentences in this thread. Chaz Schilens is a big and fast WR - and that's exactly how I want our #4-WR to be.
Holmes was rarely open and when he was , he would either drop it, fumble it, or catch it for a five yard gain and then proceed to show with his right hand that it was a first down. Holmes is NOT one of the premiere receivers in the league. He is a very good slot receiver. He can't be a #1. He is afraid to get hit. Braylon needs to be brought back because he opens it up underneathfor Holmes and he can make any catch possible with his size, speed, and body control. I'm actually anxious to see if Schillens can do the same. If Braylon is brought it in, this receiving corps would be just as good as it was in 2010. Minus all the drops(and only 1 was from Braylon!!!!)
Braylon has been a moron, no denying that. To sign him we would need insurance of his health and insurance he won't do something illegal. Fortunately, he's 30 and realizes this is either his last contract or this season will be the last audition for one. Also, he's never been prone to injury and should be fully recovered from a knee injury suffered in week two. It's not even about his stats. No one is salivating over the guy because he's going to Canton. We can't afford that anyway. We just remember the things he did for the offense that doesn't show up on the stat sheet, and some of the things he did that do. I don't care about 1,000 yards. 900, 7 TDs and 17 YPC is great for the type of offense we had in 2010. Sorry, we aren't capable of signing a 1000 yard receiver this year. But, we may be capable of signing the split end to pull safeties away from DK, Kerley and Holmes who has chemistry with Sanchez. Bringing back an effective guy in that role who also blocks downfield? Helps a heap with the run and makes this sputtering offense a lot more explosive and capable of driving the length without stalling out. Obviously our problem last year was moving the chains, not RZ issues as we were #1 in the league. Probably going to take a hit there bc of LT and Burress departures but I believe some of that success will have rubbed off on the guys who stay and we'll still be above average. Oh and as for Schilens, http://en.m.wikipedia.org/wiki/Chaz_Schilens he probably just sprained his ankle walking out of Florham with 500k.
I was on vaca for a week and see this bs!?!?! Do they really see him starting as a number 2?? I hope he is PS and we sign real players for WR. Rather have cotch or edwards.
What did he do against the jets?? raiders are a run team!! and he is not top 4 wr on there team. I could care less about edwards or cotch, but make a move for manningham or someone not this guy!!
He didn't play much for the Raiders because he was always injured. He has a real good skill set if he can just stay healthy. Manningham isn't that great either and is going to cost a lot more. I've seen Manningham drop a ton of passes that hit him in the hands. I just watch the Bengals 2011 highlight video on youtube trying to find some Nelson highlights and it made me really want a big young receiver for Sanchez like Dalton has in Green. I'm hoping we can get one of these giant receivers in the first two rounds this year.
Did you watch the same games? Everytime he sensed someone around him he would drop the ball. If you're going by prior years, yeah, he did seem pretty tough, but last year he really didn't bring the same intensity. Kerley is much smaller and that guy got smacked every time he ran a slant. Yet, he hung on to the ball. Yes, Holmes can not take a hit like a #1 should.
