eh. its a misdeamenor charge in florida. stupid but not like he is going to spend anymore time locked up. probably won't even get any probation. pay a fine and everyone will forget in a month. he will get a look at some point this summer when a few rb's get hurt
Whatever team considers picking him up would have the possible suspension looming though. That and the fact that he sucks. Also it's a strong FA market out there this year. We shall see.
Who cares what anyone taught about this signing. The fact is that at the end it turned to a nothing move by our great ex-gm..
No, I actually liked the idea at the time. It's a good thing I'm not paid $$ to evaluate NFL players, because he was the third best RB on the roster
Well, he wasn't coming back here anyway so, adios gunslinger. Maybe he can hang out with our other two gun toting ex jets (Plaxico and Goodson) at the next NRA meeting.
"NFL Media Insider Ian Rapoport reported that the 29-year-old was pulled over for rolling through a stop sign, per a source close to the player. The police officer asked to search his car. Johnson cooperated, as he had nothing to hide. The police found his licensed and registered firearm under a book bag under his seat instead of locked up in the car." This is non-issue. While we can legtimately debate whether johnson should be back with the Jets next season, this situation will have no bearing on it.
Not sure I'd call it a career for Chris Johnson just yet. He showed more burst than Chris Ivory towards the end of the season and finished with a higher ypc and is a better pass catching back. This is a simple misdemeanor crime. I'd rather pay to have him here, let Powell walk and draft a RB than eat dead money and replace him.
I'm going by what was written, which stated that the legal gun was under a book bag in his car. That may constitute a misdemeanor violation of the open carry rule in FLA., whereas visibly open might mean a felony charge. Although I'm sure someone with more knowledge will weigh in on this.

This. He underperformed, and there's no reason to double down on our mistake. Add in the weapons charge, and a no-brainer decision is even more of a no-brainer. CJ is a HoF running back, but as the Titans correctly realized, his days of HoF caliber production are over. I'd rather sign someone off of another team's practice squad or whatever- someone with potential and not much wear and tear.
