I never understood why there's so many people standing near the field of play in the first place. I work boxing events, and I could stand ringside and watch every fight on a card and then climb in the ring between rounds, but I get the fuck out of the way till the match is over...because I don't need to be there unless it's needed.

Does the Strength & Conditioning coach need to be a yard from the sideline? Inactive players? Looks to me like more than 50% of the people standing there shouldn't be. Sure it's fun and exciting...go to a rally car race and stand next to the track if you want some action.

The league should make 'em all step way back...better yet, get them off the field.

Fuck that. the league doesn't need to get involved with telling people where to stand and creating stupid new rules that do nothing to make the game better. The answer to every fucking problem isn't making up a new rule. It usually leads to more bullshit.

He makes some good points. I find it hard to believe that this stuff was going on for a while and NOBODY noticed that he was doing something illegal
There is a line that players are not suppose to pass when they're standing on the sideline. The Jets players weren't behind it when that play occurred

    As I read it...

Seems to me that the wall was set up in the "Coaches and Situation Substitution Players Only" area. Most of the wall was injured out of uniform players, so they shouldn't have been there. They wouldn't be doing any situation substitution. The strength and conditioning coach was a coach, so technically he could have been there, but leaning into the chain gang's zone to deliberately contact one of the opposition team's active 11 players would be right out.

Fines and firings are fine for interfering with the play, but I would also add an unsportsmanlike conduct penalty on the bench should anything like that wall be seen again. I'd also wonder if the wall was coordinated with the Jets players on the field. If it were a deliberate tactic, the blockers would try to force the gunner our just before the wall.

Cimini has covered the Jets for over 20 years but I think this piece -- which is really an Op-Ed -- is off-target.

He's basically implying that there's a COVERUP on something that IS NOT ILLEGAL (the wall).

That's a big accusation to make. He either has to offer up proof or name names....and basically, the only names I can see are Mike Westhoff and/or Rex Ryan.

I've defended Cimini in the past but he has only 2 choices IMO: follow-up this story and get to the 'truth' and name names....or publicly apologize to the Jets, Rex, and MW.

    It's either-or.

    Fish or cut bait.

John, you are correct. What many of us never really have bothered to look at..including me...is that if another coach from another team was acting this way...we would hate and despise and cherish their losses as we do our home team wins.

I love some of Rex. Quite honestly, some other parts of Rex are becoming annoying. I mean, rooting for your team should be friggin fun. I find myself constantly answering questions from friends and family and they know how much I love this team. Its becoming annoying...because lets face it guys..its only sports.

There are much more important things in life and the Jets have made themselves a full time fucking job for the fan.

Trash if you like...but its the truth.

I think that getting rid of useless people lined up on the sideline makes the game better and safer. I wanna see what the players & coaches are up to...not what the O-line coach's nephew is wearing.

On the other hand, maybe we can line up Gatorade buckets along the sideline...you know, like a product placement kinda thing. Generate some revenue.

  11. You're right. The league doesn't need to institute any rules. It needs to enforce the rules that already exist. If they called gunners for running down the sideline every time they did it, this would not have happened. But they only call it once in a while, in the most blatant cases. Just ask Steve Tasker.
