Would you have posted this if Cimini had us taking Dion Jordan at #9 like a lot of us want? Or did you post this because you think Mingo is highly debatable pick and goes against a lot of fans' opinions?

    Cimini got what he wanted.

FYI I used to really dislike Cimini, I thought he was being a jerk to be a jerk. But I realized he's just another Jets fan like us. I still find it annoying reading a Jets fan opinion on things which is what Cimini is, but I understand where he is coming from.

  2. I've heard this assumption a couple times. Where does it stem from?

Maybin was a late riser out of the Big 10 while Mingo has been considered a top 15 prospect since his Sophomore year out of the SEC?

I hear all these Gholston/Maybin comparisons. That leads me to believe Jet fans are just petrified that they will have another OLB bust on their hands. For whatever reason Mingo represents that notion.

He wouldn't have ever had us taking Jordan or Jones at #9. It's either he has no clue or he is a complete tool.

He also has the eagles taking Geno Smith. The same team that just resigned Michael Vick and had production out of Nick Foles. It just amazes me how this guy could be so wrong in so many ways. I am not just talking about this mock. This was just the icing on the cake.

People compare Maybin with Mingo because they both didn't have much production in games, but showed great promise with speed and agility. The were both raw talent and Maybin never panned out.

Why should we take another "project" when we can have a guy like Jones who will produce immediately.

  5. I'm not suggesting we take Mingo over anyone. All I'm saying is that there's a reason he's considered a top 15 pick & he does bring things to the table that the Jets are in need of.

As for Jones..how do you know he will produce immediately?College production is just as much of an enigma as triangle numbers are. Speaking of triangle numbers..Jones' stink.Does that matter? Sometimes it does, sometimes it doesn't. It's just another piece of data to add to the equation.

He's also a much different body type & style of player than Mingo is.If the Jets were to select one over the other..it maybe purely a formation/positional decision..not "Who is better".

This is ridiculous. Except for a few O-linemen, you can easily poke holes in any first round prospect in this draft - especially the pass-rushers.

Mingo: Low weight, misses tackles and had a low production year.

Jones: Lacks both size and speed. Might have a neck injury. Sack leaders from SEC tend to bust.

Jordan: Couldn’t beat Tackles one-on-one even in college. Didn't produce either.

Moore: He was apparently immature in interviews during the combine. His speed is a question mark. Got his production boosted by playing in a great defense.

Ansah: He has very little football experience. His combine wasn't really that impressive except for the 40. He comes from a background were age-fraud is common and can only prove his age with a passport.

Werner: Doesn't have much football experience and doesn't impress as an athlete.

With how poorly Jones worked out, I'd much rather have Mingo over Jones. There have been many players who have produced in the SEC but couldn't cut it in the NFL (Tebow being a good example). Jones ran a 4.9 at his pro-day. That's pathetic considering it's hand timed. If he ran at the combine, he would have run 5.0+. Sure, there have been plenty of players who have had bad workouts, but produced in the NFL (ex: Suggs). But these players have the size to be in the NFL. Jones is undersized. When's the last time someone undersized and unathletic made it in the NFL as an OLB? Not to mention Jones isn't the best at stopping the run. As it stands now, I would say the Jets will pick between Jordan, Mingo, Star, and Ansah. I don't think they would pick Jones if he is there considering the Jets are trying to get faster. There's no reason to call Cimini an idiot over this.

if the Eagles think Smith can be an elite franchise QB, and he is available, why would they pass on him just because they have Vick and Foles for one more year? "hey, guys, Smith is great and could be our starting QB for the next 10 years, but since we are saddled with Vick and Foles this season, let's pass on him." does that sound reasonable to you?
