Im exciting for the season to start and to see what we have out of our team and coaches. This first draft means sooo much to the rebuilding process and I love how it went down. Youthâ„¢
Cutler and Clemens are carbon copies of each other??? Cutler's main strength is his deep ball, Clemens' main weakness is his deep ball. Cutler's main weakness is the mental side of his game, Clemens' main strength is the mental side of his game. If anybody Clemens is like Leinart.
KH.... you really lost me here, bud. Why would you say Cutler's weak spot is the mental side of his game? Every report I've ever seen says he's a very smart kid, very coachable, a guy who listened at the senior bowl and made the adjustments immediately. Also, the reports on Clemens is his arm strength is better than Leinart's and his deep ball is much better than either Leinart or Youngs'. It can float some, when he doesn't geyt his feet right, but that's true for most QB's. From what I've read, if a comparison is to be made, it's Clemens and Cutler.... not Leinart. Bottom line, all 4 of the top QB's are different. Comparisons don't really hold water.
Jets | Clemens impressive at minicamp Sun, 14 May 2006 18:04:17 -0700 The Associated Press reports New York Jets rookie QB Kellen Clemens has already started to impress the team at their minicamp. He drew praise from head coach Eric Mangini after Saturday's morning session, May 13. "What I liked out of Kellen this weekend is his presence and his ability to run the operation," Mangini said. "That's been really positive." Clemens said he feels more comfortable with each practice. Clemens has heard the critics of his game, some of whom say he lacks accuracy with the deep passes. "I've just tried to work on every aspect of my game, tried to work as much as I could just to improve," he said. "There's a lot of stuff that's been said, but at this point I'm only concerned with the criticisms this coaching staff has for me here to get better." Jets | Clemens standing out in first minicamp Sun, 14 May 2006 19:15:47 -0700 Randy Lange, of the Bergen Record, reports New York Jets QB Kellen Clemens stood out Saturday, May 13, for the second-straight day during the team's first minicamp. Clemens directed misaligned players to their proper spots and then set up and delivered short passes with precision and quickness. Head coach Eric Mangini said, "I really couldn't say what expectations are in terms of a quarterback, a rookie playing. There's a lot of time to go here and there's a lot of things we have to go through, and that's really good competition at the position. What I liked out of Kellen this weekend is his presence and his ability to run the operation. That's been really positive." Jets | Mangini discusses quarterback competition Sat, 13 May 2006 11:26:00 -0700 Rich Cimini, of the New York Daily News, reports New York Jets QBs Chad Pennington, Patrick Ramsey, Brooks Bollinger and Kellen Clemens all have a shot at the starting quarterback job. Head coach Eric Mangini said, "Chad, Patrick (Ramsey), Brooks (Bollinger), Kellen, they're all in the mix. Whoever does the best job, that's who's going to play."
We had a very good draft overall, and i except to keep doing so as the years go by. Clemens could be a good QB for us, and with reps could get alot better.
Chad should be a great QB coming back. Patrick has great potential to finally be that 1st round QB he was. Kellen just seems to be an amazing QB with a great future.
I love the kid's attitude. Take everything in strides, learn all you can and improve from there. We'll see how well he develops
The more and more I read I get psyched. I liked Clemens even as a Soph. I remember a Oregon fan on here saying that the coaching almost ruined him that yr. I remember, the offense was pretty goofy looking and he was put in alot of bad situations due to playcalling. But when I watched this guy, like Mangini said the one thing you notice is how he commands his team and establishes his presence in the game. Plus I remember watching the release and zip on his intermediate routes. His deep balls can sail though, I would assume most of that is due to him throwing on the run or not completely setting his body up to make the throw.Regardless we have an interesting prospect on our laps. im liking the idea of open competition. these reporters will be drooling for depth charts real soon.
