As a Yankee fan, I benched Wang in my league before this start, and have since dropped him completely.
My opponent in fantasy this week started Wang. Twice. After the first, I would have dumped him, much less start him again. Fantasy death wish.
It's not really gloating. The ballpark is fucked. You don't spend 1.2 billion to construct a little league field. The Yankee Organization should be embarrassed. 17 home runs in three games....in April. That last one by Hafner was an inside out opposite field pop fly that went out. Who in their right mind would want to pitch in that park?
Actually, I agree with you. Its insane all these homeruns. Maybe they Organization wanted the nickname Bronx Bombers back, but forgot that opponents will play in the same ballpark too.
So,Wang HAS to be sent down now, right? They can't let him start again without finding out whats wrong.
Wang cannot be sent down. "A team cannot send a player to the minors unless they have options or the player agrees and has at least five years of service. Wang has no options and hasn’t been in the majors long enough."
What a fucking beating. That was fucking crazy. I'm going to the game tomorrow. I'll be showing up. Hopefully the Yankees will too. AJ should set shit straight tomorrow. Right?
And we've been making fun of Carl Pavano for having a shitsuck of a year so far. Wang is a damn disgrace, and I'm getting sick and tired of this. Send that guy back to Taiwan, or trade him to the Hanshin Tigers.
the yankees don't have many options on what to do about Wang, it's pitch him every 5 days, put him in the pen, or release him, unless they get him to agree to pretend he's injured and put him on the DL
That's what my brother suggested yesterday, and while I would normally be against pulling bullshit like that, it has to be done in this case. The guy is a mess. He's tossing meatballs over the middle of the plate. I don't give two shits about the "jet stream" dave is talking about, if you put fastballs over the middle of the plate, pitch after pitch, even the worst MLB hitters are going to turn them into home runs. Hughes is currently 2-0 for the undefeated Scranton/Wilkes-Barre team. Plain and simple, it's time. This roster needs to be overturned. Matsui is clearly not healthy enough to play. DL for him. DL for Wang. Coke and Edwar, enjoy your trip to AAA. Robertson being brought up for one game made me choke on vomit. Success = getting sent back? Seriously? Albaladejo is entirely on Girardi's shoulders. Crossing over to other sports, giving him a job over a long-innings guy is like Jets fans crowning Ratliff the next QB. What you do against the scrubs at the end of pre-season games means squat. Bring back Aceves, Giese, and Robertson. I think Marte will be fine. Not great, but serviceable as a "lefty specialist." Pena might need to head back as well. He's having a really tough time against real pitching. It's time for Miranda to replace Matsui. A blind man can see the guy has nothing left in the tank. Use getting hit in the knee yesterday as an excuse for a DL trip. A DH-only player who can't hit is nothing more than a liability. What a freaking train wreck this season turned into. Oh, and just wait. If this keeps up, the Yankees won't sell 3 million seats this year, never mind 4. Did anyone notice the crowd yesterday? Even before the game got out of hand the Stadium wasn't full. 75 degrees, on Saturday afternoon, on the Yankees first home stand of the year. They talked about it during the game, and made a good point. This crowd is more like a Super Bowl crowd now. With ticket prices so high, the crowd is a lot more corporate. "Good" Yankees fans can't afford to go to games now, so you'll hear less crowd noise. This new park is going to come back to bite this team in the ass.
Girardi already said Wang wasn't injured, so I doubt that happens. With the day off on Thursday, they'll just skip his scheduled start.
What was so crazy was it was so empty they actually mentioned how many empty seats there have been the last few games, then they showed a few sections that were completely empty, I mean noone in them at all of at least 45 seats, and good seats at that. It looked like a big company bought season tickets for a whole section and noone could be bothered to go. They said that according to the yankees about 80% of the seats are selling, but that to them it looks like much less than that are actually filled, tough to tell based on yesterdays game where people left early, but even the crowd shots in the 1st a ton of the good seats looked empty, I;d say something like 55-60 % of the field level seats in the outfield were empty
Yeah I got the pix. I'm not going to post them, I don't want to relive the day.\ oh PS - The seats surround home plate on the field level...barely anyone in them. Crazy sight to see for a Saturday game. You can watch the game from the field level, standing and they can't do shit.
