the right call was made. It was over wall, and the guy never reached out over it to catch the ball. Crowe came up short anyway. 4-3 Yanks!
It was the right call because with NOBODY touching it it woulda been a cheapie with Crowe just missing the catch. Probably would have hit the dude in the groin had he not been reaching out.
Must say its pretty sad to see all those empty seats behind home plate. So many empty seats in that section.
wow, the umpire looks at the replay for 15 minutes and still gets the call wrong. Crowe's glove was in play, as was the fan's glove and they both touched it, not only that, but watch it again, the ball never goes out. Arguably he could have called Posada out, but barring that it really should have been at the most 2nd and 3rd. On the replay it touches the fan's glove, then the top of the wall which is in play then crowes glove then pops out, since the fan was reaching over the wall that means it never left play. if the fan doesn't touch it I honestly think Crowe was going to catch that.
nice win today. Burnett was solid but not spectacular, bullpen was again shutdown (Bruney has been absolutely amazing), nice to see Albaladejo get out there also. So... what's the deal with the next series, do I start the thread or is it someone else turn? haha
