Show me someone else that gets 4 road playoff wins with Sansuck and then we can say Rex is just some dickweed. Bowles needs to go to Petty. No point in anything else.
It would be very Jet like to scapegoat the coordinators after this disaster. Now they both should be shown the door first chance they get but Bowles has to go with them.
I saw Coughlin the other night in the MNF booth and it seemed like he's itching to get back into coaching. Not saying he is or isn't the guy for this team but was surprised that he's looking to get back in.
That's the million dollar question. I wish the Jets started working on fixing his footwork prior to the season. Wasted our time with Geno Smith during OTAs.
At this point, the Jets simply don't have enough talent to justify a free-agent signing. They might as well as go with Hack next year.
It s okay guys, that you want to fire Bowles, but we should see around first regarding potential replacements and I cant see any quality replacement for him ATM. This teams needs a rebuild which means min another 2 years of waiting, to replace veteran players, find franchise QB, so big decision looming for Woody whether he fires Bowles or not. If Bowles would return, we would have to give 2y min to rebuild rhe roster, but not sure if Bowles is the right HC for that.
A two-year minimum extension for Bowles? You can' t be serious!!! He doesn't even deserve to finish out the season, much less be guaranteed two more years. Just because a team is rebuilding doesn't mean that you aren't instilling a culture of accountability and discipline. Bowles is definitely NOT the right man for the job. He's even more lax than that slack ass Rex. Especially if the Jets commit to a youth movement, they need a coach who holds players accountable and has them playing smart, tough, disciplined football. Young players will make some mistakes, but they also can make great plays. Sometimes they have to learn how to win, and that's OK as long as they show steady growth and progress. Bowles can't get a team with a lot of veterans on it prepared and motivated for games. How's he supposed to do that with young players and rookies? As far as looking around first, I disagree. You don't look around first while your HC is still employed. Word always leaks out, and that's an unprofessional, inhumane way of going about things. You fire the coach and THEN look around.
It seems like every coach Woody hires has zero previous NFL head coaching experience. Their inexperience in the big boy chair seems to lead to them playing not to lose and coaching scared.
Woody not a big boy owner...also a problem All he had to do is study the Gints Steelers or Denver organizations to get some knowledge His decisions have been terrible and unfortunately the advisory board only got it half right imo with Mac
He has the h.c. and g.m. set up in the power structure as the Steelers and it has half this board pissed off.
Because we're not the Steelers. The Steelers have had a much longer time frame to get their organization to the level that it is today. Now if you're willing to wait another 30-40 years or so for Woody to get his head out of his ass, more power to you. I'll be long gone by then. What works in Pittsburgh doesn't guarantee it will work in Jersey. As long as Woody remains both meddler and clueless, the Jets will remain a mediocre facsimile of a real NFL team. I'm at the point now that I no longer expect anything from this team and I haven't been disappointed in years.
As well it should. This isn't the Steelers. Woody hasn't been in football his whole life as the Steelers' owners have. They have actual knowledge and experience in football. Woody doesn't. He doesn't have a clue what he's doing. Further the point is that it sets the HC and GM up at cross purposes when you have to rebuild/reshape the roster. The HC takes primarily a year at a time basis although he should be concerned with the long term. As a number of posters have pointed out, however, in a situation like this where the owner wants immediate results and a winner, it puts the HC in an impossible situation and puts him under a ton of pressure to win now. The GM primarily takes a long term view, but has to consider the coach's wants and the team's immediate needs. If the GM doesn't give the HC what he wants or thinks he needs, the HC can go to the owner and say that the GM isn't supporting/helping him, when in actuality the GM is doing what's best for the team overall in a long term or more balanced view. A clueless owner like Woody has no way to discern who is telling the truth, so he winds up siding with whom he likes best or whom he thinks has the most compelling argument, even though it's quite possible that what seems like the most compelling argument is only that because Woody has no idea what he's doing. I'm not convinced the situation works with the Steelers. How many SBs have they won recently, or even been to? In their situation, not only are the owners intelligent, knowledgeable and experienced, both their HC and GM are as well. That's a HUGE difference from the Jets where the owner is a clueless doofus, and both the HC and GM are novices.
The post i quoted wants woody to look at the steelers as a model of how to rub a franchise. i merely pointed out that woody did just that and fans are still not happy. fact is, until we find a qb it doesn't matter who owns the team. all this teeth gnashing because we are not having a good year being done by the same people who were fellating the whole team last year is comical
Bingo. Although, this is a pattern all throughout Jets history. Since Weeb Ewbank (who had quite a long coaching career before the Jets) only three Jets coaches have had NFL coaching experience before becoming Jets HC. Charley Winner - 35-30-5 before Jets Ken Shipp - Interim - No NFL HC experience Lou Holtz - No NFL HC experience Mike Holovak - Interim - No NFL HC experience Walt Michaels - No NFL HC experience Joe Walton - No NFL HC experience Bruce Coslet - No NFL HC experience Pete Carroll - No NFL HC experience Rich Kotite - 36-28-0 before Jets Bill Parcells - 109-81-1 before Jets Al Groh - No NFL HC experience Herman Edwards - No NFL HC experience Eric Mangini - No NFL HC experience Rex Ryan - No NFL HC experience Todd Bowles - No NFL HC experience
