also if the jets were gonna pull a saints and bring up an honorary captain for a game, cmart or chrebet would be more appropriate IMO, and it would be done at a home game. Coles is signed and expected to play a role here..I think he still has it in him.
Those guy's don't make any sense because they can't actually play football anymore. If Coles needs to do something he can still go out on the field and do it. Chrebet and Martin are so far out of the league that all they could possibly be is honorary captains and a waste of roster spot.
well yeah thats why im saying theres no way coles was brought in to do that. the saints brought in a retired player with two bad knees to do it like that as an act of saying thank you for your years of service. i read a comparison to being like the saints earlier, which was a little agitating. besides who really cares who our captains are at an away game? honorary captain=pointless title in front of an away crowd.
For us as fans it is. I can't say if it will have any effect on the team or not. It seems like Rex thinks it will and he knows the guys a lot better than any of us do.
That's what I think, too. Pulling an honorary captain stunt would make much more sense at a home game.

ahh, do we really NEED an over the hill receiver who hasn't produced ANYTHING in over 2 yrs, PLUS when he was here how can ANYONE forget what DOUCHEBAG he was ALWAYS complaining about how he wasn't taken care of enough...I thought we just lost our starting safety...where did this even come from??? If he outperforms himself, scores a couple of TD's against the pats & helps us win, I'll be the first to give him his props.
Don't worry. Coles's not even suiting up for the game. I guess this is Rex's way of keeping the spirits up on the team in view of the injury.

Lisa Zimmerman of TheJetsBlog (not sure her credibility, but I did read her interview with Trevor Pryce last week, so that has to stand for something) has said that there is almost no chance that Coles is one of the 45/inactive players for this game. Accurate, or will be active and see the field?
Maybe this is a sign we're actually going to have a gamplan to attack the weak area of our opponent (NE's 2ndary) with 4 and 5WR sets as opposed to just being stubborn and doing what we always do.
Well, looks like I will be bringing my 87 jersey out of the woodworks and wear it tonight.. (Although I did wear it on thanksgiving)
