No you are looking at it ALL wrong. The Patriots are gonna get the ball during the game whether they kick, receive or defer. So that argument is silly The main reason teams defer, and why it’s always a good idea is because it gives you the opportunity to have the ball at the end of the first half AND the beginning of the second half. If you are an offensive team- like the Chiefs are, the opportunity to have 2 consecutive offensive series is extremely valuable. That’s how games are put away. It was the right call to defer. It would’ve been stupid to give that opportunity to another offensive team like the Patriots
Not sure why everyone is so up in arms with deferring. Pats scoring at the end of half is exactly why you do it. Had they taken the ball and not scored and were in this situation the game is 100% over right now. Getting the ball at least there is a glimmer of hope. Pats seem to always score right before half, why would you want to give them opportunity to score back to back unanswered.

It set the tone for the game. KC's strength is their offense not their defense and he should've been thinking about getting a early lead instead he defers and Brady takes the Pats downfied for a lead/score the Pats may not relinquish.
Thats why when you think about all the cheating scandals;NOT just spy,deflate & wiregate.But the now countless other times theyve been accused of fowl play..how can the nfl, media & the like just look the other way? Shit my son’s high school football team has won 3 straight 4AA straight championships and have the 3rd longest unbeaten streak in the country and they defer every time without hesitation,
If Chiefs find a way to slow down Pats rushing they will win the game. It's not Brady killing them it is the Pats' run game.
If your thinking they’re going to score back to back it doesn’t matter. Right now if the pats answer what difference does it make? It only matters if you hold them on their first possession of both halves. You want the lead.
