Screw the Bills. Davis needs to realize that 1. the jets will should have a better offense than the Bills. and 2. it's the bills
That's old news. They never update that until a deal is made. Here is the most recent news: Adamn Schefter Redskins free-agent TE Fred Davis is scheduled to visit Bills on Wednesday. Jets and Redskins also interested. The Browns are no longer involved.
BECAUSE THE BILLS SUCK. Your only good WR is Johnson you have no QB Jackson gets injured every 2 weeks
Chandler tore an ACL the last week of the regular season and isn't expected to be available to start the year. The Bills want to have a starting calibur TE until Chandler returns. Davis also is coming back from an injury, so I dont think the Bills would sign Davis if he were also not expected to be available to start the year.
The Jets dont have a QB either, so that's a wash. The Jets only good receiver is Holmes, and he's coming off a bad injury. Kerley is ok. The Jets have no starting caliber RBs, and they Bills do. I fail to see how at this point in the offseason you can argue that the Jets offense will be better than the Bills.
That shouldn't matter in Fred Davis' eyes. He's going to want to go to a team who has no starting TE. He wants to be the go to guy. If he goes to Buffalo, he plays a stop gap until Chandler is healthy. Then when he is healthy, they will both battle out for a starting spot. If Davis comes over to us, he is almost guaranteed a spot on our roster as the starting guy.
Right, I agree. I'm just writing from the Bills' perspective. They'll only be interested in Davis if he can start the year for them. Also, I'm not sure about whether Chandler would start over Davis anyway with the new coaching staff. I get the feeling the new coaches like their TE's as smaller, more receiving type TE's than Chan Gailey. Gailey liked huge guys like Chandler that could block primarily and then could assist in the passing game. But so far the Bills have poked around the TE's in the smaller, receiving mold. They were in on Delanie Walker, Dustin Keller, and now Fred Davis. The old coaches would have never been interested in those type of players. It leads me to believe they want an offense with a good pass catching TE. Maybe Davis would start over Chandler if they both were healthy. Who knows. I think the Bills are being very cautious about Davis coming off the injury. I dont think they would be willing to pay him a lot or give him a multi-year deal. If some other team wants him, I think it would be very easy to lure him away from Buffalo.
Big thing with Davis is his health. Does anyone know if he's at a point with the achilles where he can be worked out? if healthy, he helps fill a need. if achilles will take awhile to get back to full strength, and his route running/speed is comprimised, then he might not be worth it.
Sadly Im going to have to disagree with this. The Bills have a good OL, Stevie Johnson is no slouch, and CJ Spiller is an absolute beast that will take pressure off any QB. The Jets? Who do we have? Holmes coming off major surgery and Kerley? Thats it...
If I was forced to guess, I'd point to how bad their home field maintenance is. During the playoff game, it seemed like a safe bet that at least one player was gonna wind up injured.
Davis is claiming that he is in great health right now. He wants teams to work him out and let him show how healthy he is.
