this is fukin horseshit... normally it seems stupid to believe that there would be any type of "conspriracy" with the hiring of a coach, but the fact that no one knew he was re-signed is the shadiest thing ive ever heard...

how does this happen? ny media notifies the public everytime someone takes a shit, but we dont hear about this... sick.

No offense to the OP, but this isn't how i envisioned kicking off my friday, reading such bad tidings.

If Schotty is here next year, it'll be time to dust off the pitchfork and light a few torches.

Andy Reid??? Haha.. ummmm yeah Andy Reid is not accepting an OC position. And Schitty has had too much talent here over the years to be consistently below average.

And your sig is pretty ridiculous. You know what Jet fans want? How about plays where all 5 guys don't the exact same thing all the time?

what in the fuck is going on with the jets and brian schottenheimer? i know people like to joke that he has dirty pictures of everyone or something like that but im beginning to think that there really is something shady going on here. why would they extend a contract on a coordinator whos units have consistently had problems in the offseason without letting him have the final contract year to prove if he is worthy or not?

we would get better results if mark was drawing the plays on his palm in the huddle and this guy isnt even coaching for his job?

yeh he can be fired, but an extension based on nothing is ridiculous. was it the goal line drive in the pitt game that proved how great of an offensive mind he was?

The problem is Rex Ryan having undying loyalty to everybody on the staff no matter what the end result is. Rex must be terrified of the Modern NFL Offense as that would explain why he avoids it like the Ebola virus. There's no way in hell, unless the Jets get shutout repeatedly over the last 6 games, is Schottenheimer ever going anywhere.

If Schotty does get bounced, it will be Tannenbaum that pulls the trigger, not Ryan.

Very cowardly maneuver by the Jet FO signing Schotty on the down low during the offseason.

If he's still around next year, I am going to directly blame Rex and Tanny for his future blunders. They need to start taking the blame for keeping this dickhole around.

Yes, yes, Holmes probably does care who the OC is, as Holmes wants to win, and would like to help the team win.

Have you noticed how crabby he gets when we aren't winning? Have you noticed that his only response to... Do you feel you're being utilized properly in the Jets offense, are you happy with your role here is... "We're winning games," or "We're here winning games, we can't worry about anything else," essentially completely deflecting from what he really feels? And again, putting emphasis on what he cares about is: Winning, no matter what.

The fact that around the Baltimore/NE games, he'd already pretty much given us an unfiltered glimpse of what he's thinking, when he said point blank, the players are not being allowed to adjust on their own during plays, the necessary adjustments aren't being made on offense during the game when the defense shows looks the Jets didn't gameplan for, that they can't be forced to keep running the same things when they aren't working, that he'd like the ball more, that they're predictable, that they're telegraphing... None of this sounds like a guy who does not/will not care.

The fact that per Rex a couple of weeks ago, during a story he told, he indicated Tone went to Mark, and asked Mark to meet with him and Plax for even more practice time, before/after practices to do extra field and film work, to create hand signals for them to be able to communicate between themselves on the field, so they could indicate how they were reading the defense, to be able to adapt plays on their own, etc., yet remember back when Tone was at the height of his upset, he acknowledged, they've been told they can't "audible..." and adapt plays on their own.

I absolutely, absolutely, absolutely do think Holmes cares.

Having said that, Holmes is close with Rex. Super close. Rex wrote in his book about their relationship, and I think that continues. I get the vibe Holmes probably wants to be wherever Rex is, more than he cares about the OC. I mean, they even spent, at least part of their off day/Thanksgiving holiday together, at the Macy's Parade yesterday, right? I think Matt Higgins even tweeted about what a good time they had in response to a fan who saw them-- It was Rex, Tone, Matt, and Tanny, per what I saw, as they were definitely shown on air sitting by each other during the parade, with family, Tone had his little boys with him.

Given their general dynamic with each other, I think Holmes will go to Rex and plead his case, about issues on the offense, his case for being utilized differently at the end of the season, etc., if and when, Schotty doesn't get the boot. That's if he hasn't been in Rex's ear already, which I sort of suspect he has been, given if you listen carefully, Holmes will sometimes say some things about what the offense will be doing, one interview before Rex. Like, when Rex decided they were going back to the run more heavily, Holmes said it would be happening right after the Baltimore game, after he'd been with Rex. What does Rex say the next day? They're going back to the run more heavily. There are honestly lots of examples of this.

Rex probably knows Holmes well enough to know, if the Jets continue on with Schotty, the offense continues to struggle, and continues to utilize-- or not utilize Holmes, like they have.... They're begging for Holmes to be frustrated, and Rex knows Holmes well enough to know, a severely frustrated Holmes, does not spew the PC answer, he's capable of snapping and telling truths.

This is Manish's headline in his tweet to one of his latest articles:

LG Matt Slauson: “Teams have figured out our protection schemes..."

How many players on offense need to publicly acknowledge that EVERYONE knows what we're doing, and thus we're always at a disadvantage, before the team says, on the whole, Schotty has the WHOLE offensive unit, unprepared and telegraphing all of the time? Ugh.

yes the guy can be canned but its not the point.

the point is there is a group of fans who believe that schotty is only here because woody and marty schott are friends and that's why the guy is kept on staff....that brians employment here is protected by woody and rex's hands are tied...

the fact that they shadily extended him which is absolutely not the NFL norm argueably backs this idea up.

i hope to all hell they fire this guy but the shady extension is crap.

and apologies for bringing the bad news everyone!!

Starting to really believe that's the case and if true, Woody will once again get on my bad side after the last years finally getting on my good side.

I don't care if you're friends with someone, if he's being a detrimental to the team you have to get rid of him.

He earned it for the work he did w/ a young QB through 2 seasons. This season the O has been bad BUT OL injuries, 3 of the top 4 WRs were new w/ no offseason and the QB has taken a little step back.

i agree with the second part of your post 150%....

but did he earn it with Sanchez? Yes Sanchez came out nicely in his first and second seasons I'll absoultely say that...but the deal w/ Schotty is his horrific playcalling and in game skills....i mean its just plain terrible.

goal line situations either run run run or pass pass pass, useless misdirection and shifting, complicated schemes beyond necessity, 4 yard curls/slants/out routes on 3rd and 6 with an empty backfield every single time, and the beat goes on.

the guy did not earn an extension IMO.

Playcalling is as good as the players executing, there isn't a magic playcall that will work every play. I have seen some head scratchers(like w/ ALL OC's) but I have seen ton sof good calls that didn't wotrk out b/c of poor execution.
