Agreed, I don't get the notion of a "lucky penalty." The guy pushed Geno to the ground after he had stepped out of bounds, that's not lucky, that's the game. The player made a mistake, and the Bucs paid for it, it's part of the mental aspect of the game.
What would Jets fans be saying if it were the other way around, and the Bucs won it the same way? I guarantee that lots of people would be singing a different tune. They'd call for LaVonte David's head. Yeah, lots of shit happens in every game, but the bottom line is that, without that boneheaded penalty, the Jet's chances of winning the game AT THAT POINT were probably about 10% at best, if I had to put a number on it...probably the odds are even quite lower. At that point, it WAS a miracle victory thanks to a gift...and we're talking about the end of the game. So yeah, the Jet's got lucky as hell.
feldspar, would you TAKE IT, though? Or would you say "That was lucky. We don't need Luck. Take the W back. I'll take the Loss instead"? Because your post sounds a lot like the latter...
There is no doubt that you take it. The W is all that matters at the end of the day. Sometimes winning a game like this is all the more sweeter. I mean, LOSING a game at the end like would be a bit more devastating, right? I'm merely speaking to the subject of the thread.
There would be a chance, but it would be a lot less likely. I think they would have tried a quick out. Matt Ryan and the Falcons seem to have that down to a science somehow, but yeah probably quick out and IF that was complete then a long 50+ yard FG. Or you know next play the TB safety goes head hunting again and we get the 15 yards the anyways
No but so what - u know the media is gonna paint it as the jets were given the game. especially francessa.
The Jets won!!!! At the end of the day, they won. It is typically the type of game the Jets lose, so let's just enjoy the fact they won. They have the Cheatriots on Thursday so our secondary better get its act together!!!
No. Not with the clock management. With proper clock mamagement they probably have and extra 10-15 seconds, then yes. He went out at the 48, two pass playes after a first down would have gotten them to the same spot. Lets pick the mid point, say 13 seconds, that would have left 20 seconds on the clock.... Thats three quick passes, where TB needs to defend the whole field, Hill or cumberland finds a seam...game over...winslow or kerley gets the sideline you can get the 15 yards. With 7 seconds left. Nope.
The problem in the secondary yesterday, letting receivers get inside routes, will kill them on Thursday. Thats where Brady makes his money. What you need to hope os that the defensive staff game planned yesterdays game to show that as a weakness. Make him throw outside the numbers
Only on a Hail Mary, not enough time left for either other option. So could we have won? Yes on a Hail Mary, but not likely. If Rex didn't burn like 15 seconds off the clock for no reason before calling timeouts, then sure, maybe.
Who cares, a wins a win. Besides, what would you rather have, the Jets "given" the game or the Jets having the game stolen from them (e.g. a blown call)? Enjoy the win. As for Francesa screw him, he's going to spin any Jet win be it how yesterday went down or downplaying the opponent. Another question could be: would Billy Cundiff have made that kick?
our main gig was to stop martin. on thursday our main gig will be to stop brady and his passing game. there will be less blitzing, more corners, and zone play come thursday
I would agree with that but at least it won't be as bad as it has been when they had TEs. The difference this year I think (hope) is that for the first time in years we may be able to pressure Brady. In fact I'm sure we will.
A win is a win. There is a least one game every week that has a bone headed play that makes the difference in a win, loss. Ours was a missed tackle to lose the game, theirs was a late hit out of bounds.
You read this and actually believe it? Who on earth would say that? I don't know how anyone could possibly come to that conclusion.
As everyone else has said, could we have won if: Landry makes tackle on VJax. Sanchez doesn't get injured in pre-season. Tomlinson crosses goal line in 2010. Parcells convinces Manning to come to Jets Namath's knees weren't so injury prone. Its the age old statement of "this is why you play" Let the jack-off writers call it anything they want. The Jets have a W in ther W-L column. How do you know? Everything worked out to our advantage. As a hypothetical, lets say we have an extra 15 seconds, and no penalty. What happens if : Geno throws a pick 3 passes batted down Sack pushing LOS further back Gaining 20 yards on 3 plays and Folk missing This incessant harping over the lost 15 seconds is ridiculous because everything doesn't play out exactly the same way and there's no gurantee that with an extra :15 - penalty or not -we win
