Yea but we have too much money invested in the OL, his cap number is too big. You have to make tough decisions. Some of the big cap numbers have to go. It's not always based on if the guy can play or not, but if he makes sense for the money.

Tanny will get under the cap without cutting needs. Don't sweat it.

5 million is a roster bonus. That can be reworked. Without that he is cheap..800 thousand.

Obviously I hope Favre is not on this team so that saves us 13 million. I wouldnt cut Moore and Ellis though.

Let Favre retire (hoping), then cut David Barret and maybe David Bowens. That saves you about 19 million right there. And Barret and Bowens are more dead weight then Moore and Ellis are. Ellis and Moore are both solid players. Barret is crap and Bowens isnt bad but we arent going to miss him if we get rid of him.

    I'd cut Baker before Ellis.

Franks didn't do anything. I would keep Baker as a back-up to Keller. Baker still has exceptional NFL skills.

Wait, you want to straight up cut Ellis, but Baker has exceptional NFL skills?

No, Baker is also overpaid and will not take any pay cuts. Cut him and draft a blocking TE in the 6th or 7th. We already have a pass catching TE. F Baker. Why do people think he's so good?

The game is won in the trenches. You can't have too much money invested into the o-line.

Anybody who watched the games last year will know how valuable Brandon Moore is to the OL. Sometimes I wonder what the hell people are thinking when they make football threads.

On another note, it's getting to be that time of year when these kinds of threads start popping up. I'll try to stay away when the FA market kicks off. But, this has already been beaten to death on so many other threads.

Because he's expensive, don't you get it?

Let's bring in a cheaper, less-reliable replacement for Moore while we're at it. The right side of our line was great this year. Why would you want to break up what was arguably one of the best O-lines in the league this year, and has the potential to be even greater given the fact that these guys will have gelled for a full season?

We should have a "Test" forum, where at this time of the year folks can post their "What-if" hypothetical threads that clog the main forum. If 2 of the 3 judges approve, you can post the thread. If they give you a thumbs down, you're forbidden from starting threads for the remainder of the offseason.

Exactly how not? For a 34 DE he had good numbers. He was stout against the run. He's experinced. Your really reaching here.

His team leading 8 sacks ties him With Richard Seymour. No D lineman on Dallas, Pittsburgh or Baltimore even comes close. The More I look into it, the more idiotic cutting him looks.

We have a enough money invested in our O-line. Moore should stay. Everyone knows the O-line benefits from continuity as well. Our o-line was solid this year and it was their first year playing together. Another year under their belt will only make them better.

Baker can catch and block. He's a proven commodity. There aint that many available TEs that you know can do what Baker can. So you don't just cut him. You cannot just depend on one guy, Keller.

Ellis on the other hand. There may be options in free agency that are younger and more mobile. I like him, because he's been with the team for so long, but we can do better.

The biggest problem with these threads: there are cap penalties assessed for cutting players under contract. Not the savings you think.

If we can not get to the Qb we can not win no matter who is in the secondary! We Need 2 Defensive Ends. It all starts with the line. Both lines and we have not had a pass rusher since Abraham left the building.

Eggzactlee. Nothing wrong with trying to get some of these guys to restructure, but cutting is not always so easy.

Baker is nothing special and can easily be replaced with a late round TE fresh out of college. How are there not many TE's available that can do what he does? He does NOTHING special. He does what average TE's do and they're a dime a dozen.

Ellis is a SOLID 3-4 DE. Please tell me what available 3-4 DE's are available at a better price.
