This argument is flat out rediculous... wasn't ready... how bout the coaching staff was massaging ego's to keep the peace... truth be told he's the better fit than vilma tro man the middle, and the proof is in the pudding... look at his numbers in 5 fewer starts... he'd be well beyond Willis' #'s had he been the starter and not Vilma...
Don't get me wrong, Willis is playing great, and he will probably wind up winning because he is on a playoff team. But it's a good argument. Harris is a beast himself. It's hard to vote, but Harris is getting the edge just for that fact that he is a Jet, and considering the circumstances of what the team has gone through all season, he is busting his ass week in and week out.
Wooh, let's not go crazy here. Willis is leading the league in tackles by over 20, so to just say that Harris would be easily exceeding his numbers is a little bold. As much as you might think it's ridiculous, Harris saw a lot of playing time before he took over a starting position, and it is well within reason to believe that he wouldn't have been totally lights out had he started day one.
What, he had like 16 Tackles in the first 5 games... tons of playing time <sarcasm>... then, miraculously in his first start, 17 tackles... I'm sure it was all playing time related... he was playing maybe 12 snaps a game prior to Vilma's injury... Maybe... now as a starter, say he's averaging ruffly 12 tackles a game... so 12 x 5 is 60... So, for the sake of argument, it's unrealistic to say he would have 60 tackles through the first 5 game, but I'd think it's safe to say had he been the starter he'd have about 40 tackles through those 5 games, since we couldn't stop a stiff breeze for the first 1/2 the season... so I'd say he would have 20 more than Willis if he were the starter...
