2-1 and 2-0 in the division is a good start. I think all of us would have signed up for that before the season started especially with NE being 1-2.
I am interested in seeing what the offense looks like when Keller returns and when the coaching staff realizes Bilal should get the majority of carries. That being said the DEFENSE looked very suspect and we needed a Reggie Bush injury to squeak out with a win (we all saw how the game was going with him in there). We invested numerous high draft picks and honestly we just haven't really hit on any since Revis. Wilkerson had a decent rookie year but I can't believe how he and the Dline in general looked so far in terms of sacking the qb and applying consistent pressure. Oh well, bracing myself these next 2 weeks. Its going to be a bumpy ride.
people keep talking about our stretch of tough games, but the pats and bills have some too pats next four are @buff, den, @sea, and nyj bills next four are ne, @sf, @arz, and tenn first place after 7 games could very well be 3-4
8-8 is really doable. It's not like we've got a juggernaut schedule ahead of us. I could even see 9-7/10-6 if the breaks go our way a lot. One thing everybody is missing about this start is that it could be a lot worse given the talent on the team. The Bills could have game-planned well and taken away Sanchez in game one instead of (chortle) devoting the effort to take away Greene. The Fins could have hit either FG and bam the Jets are 0-3 to start the season.
I'd have to assume this one's for me. So, lets look at the logic here... if I find a particular player in my favourite team that I think is annoying or that I'd like to see be replaced - I should quit watching altogether, and/or stop liking them? As you correctly stated, Holmes amassed a 9 for 145 game and he even was the one catching the game-winner if you will. I could even consider going bananas and saying he won the game for us, and my opinion would still be the same. And the reasoning behind it is; let's for arguement's sake say he's his team's best player and even the best in the business - if that player also is selfish and negative for the team's energy, there's a line you have to draw somewhere of how much you are willing to put up with it. Where that line is to be drawn can be debated forever, as it's all down to each and everyone's opinion (ultimately Rex's/the NY Jets FO). And in my books, Holmes is on the wrong side of that line since long and is causing more damage than good. I don't care if he has the ability win games for us on his own, since I'm utterly convinced that he has just as much ability to poison his team over time and ultimately cause just as many losses. The Steelers felt this way, and over there he was even the MVP in the SB and still got rid of him. There's currently an infection roaming in the Jets team, that is negative body language. It slowly began last season, and I'd have to say Mark is just as much to blame, even though I find Holmes is always the one starting the trend in games. Watch this MIA game again and watch how positive everyones' body language is at the start of the game, and as the game goes on gets more and more detrimental. Even the coaches are affected by it now. And I don't just talk about that they're falling behind scorewise, it's just the positivity in the whole team goes out the window faster and faster each game. Holmes' negative body language is already so bad this early in the season, that if you look closely he's starting to give up on finishing and finishing routes if the ball's not thrown in his direction, especially if it's a run play... from a psychological standpoint, that's just vibrant signals of not putting it all out there for the team or being a team player. Hence, I want the POS out while he still might have some marginal value. Imagine if he starts dropping even more balls than he currently does? The NO-ONE will even trade a 7th Rd pick for him. And with all this said, he is NOT the superstar he thinks he is or what Rex claims he is. Again, even if he was I would still trade him if I could for close to equal value, but someone without the douchy attitude. Holmes went from PIT to NYJ. Cotchery went from NYJ to PIT. In terms of character and playing ability, I'm pretty sure who I think won that one.
Don't understand why people are mad at Holmes for "acting" for PI calls, they are usually legitimate he is getting held and interfered with all the time, and with these shit refs, if you don't make it obvious you got fouled, they won't call it. It's just the reality of the situation. My only issue with him is that he loves to talk trash to his opposing corner all game, I guess that's how he psyches himself up, the competitive spirit and all, but I'd rather him worry more about the team. That's the modern athlete for you, though. I just want everyone to understand that Holmes "playing through the contact" or whatever you guys want him to do would not help the team at all. Keep doing what you do, Santonio, that's what makes you effective in this league.
