Yes, but at the time you had no way of knowing that Kotite or Idzik would only be there 2 years. We've only been in a complete rebuild last year and this year, so not even 2 years. The first 2 years we were doing the competitive rebuild nonsense.
I just hope that Macc's drafting gets better over time because his first 2 don't look so good now. And he could've taken Mahomes last year and not have to trade three 2nd's for Darnold. A rebuilding team needs young impact players and we have few of those. Maybe Darnold, Adams, Maye, and Leggett/Herndon become studs in the near future.
I'm with you. The Kotite years were the worst. It was just sloppy football. From October of '95 until opening day of '97, I expected every single play to be a disaster. There were times during the '96 season where I considered a successful Center-to-QB exchange at the snap to be a "win".
I find it so interesting that many people discount this. The rebuild could've started a few years ago, but now its only in year 2 thanks to Woody. I also think that Mac's drafts have started to improve somewhat as well.
Casserly left the league after a disastrous run with the Texans so hardly a guy who's endorsement I put much stock in. Regardless, Mac is a dumpster fire with a shitty eye for talent.
