they're gonna have to rename Keller....and start calling him "Benjamin Franklin"...cause the guy is money in the bank!
Keller is looking really good and it looks like Favre throws the ball to him a lot on third down. You know it really is nice to have Wide Receivers and Tight Ends who catch the balls thrown to them. I think we take it for granted sometimes. Look at the Titans Wide Outs today and theres a lot of other teams around the league that drop a lot of passes.
sombody want to go on a stats run? Lets grab stats in the rookie years for Gates, Clark and Gonzales, and compare them to our Rook so far in Keller, who is having a monster 3 game stretch, and is really going to be unstoppable in the near future. Keller's stat line to date: 33 receptions 383 yards 3 td's with 5 games to play. last 3 weeks, 20 receptions 236 yards 1 td. the guy is an absolute monster in the making. Those numbers are likely the best of all TE's in the NFL over the past 3 games. NOTE: this is just an assumption, no actual research done...
^his yards have already surpassed all 3 of their respective rookie seasons...and he's already doubled the TD's of any of 'em
what about reception wise moose? I'm just curious because if he blows those guys out of the water in their rookie seasons, we might be looking at perrenial all pro, pro bowler, and potential HOF'er if he stays healthy.
Someone already mentioned it, but he has some BIG penalties called on him... the one on vrabel vs. the pats was on him I believe, and I could be wrong but TWO PI's today were on him? Those were huge for us, but don't get counted on the statline.
Just for fun can we list the kickass overhaul these guys (Mangini, Tangini, Johnson, and friends) have made to the roster in 3 years: Jenkins Pace Coleman Favre (!!) Leon Rhodes - Broke out under Mangini, though I realize he was a star from Day 1 here. Cotchery D'Brick Mangold Lowery Revis Harris Jones Mosley Thomas Bowens Elam Poteat Ellis - He and Thomas get on here because both had their careers resurrected under Mangini. I understand if he shouldn't be listed. And theres alot of young guys with potential behind these guys...Murrell...Gholston...Ainge/Ratliff...Devito...Brown... Keller looks like he'll be in the Gates/KW2 class soon.
Cotchery was drafted under the old regime but he along with guys like Thomas and Rhodes broke out under Mangini. The only guy I wouldnt count is Ellis because while I do agree he has been playing very well this year he was a Pro Bowler before Mangini got here. All and all though the guys listed have been great pickups and Mr. T and Mangini deserve a ton of credit.
Woody, Richardson, Brad Smith (Not a star WR, but big contributor) It's been a huge overhaul...and if Law can stay consistent and maybe get better as he rounds into game shape, we can chalk up another one. EDIT: Don't forget the trash they've gotten rid of either, like D-Slob
Yea...Cotch just never got playing time under Herm...and people really wanted him to play too...he was constantly in the weekly practice talk...Herm f'n sucked... Faneca Woody
Those are my thoughts too, it seems that once he started to get the ball the offense really started to run on all cylinders. It almost appears that our offense is elite. We've put up 111 points in our last 3 games, and 2 of them against pretty good teams. The Pats D may be down but they hardly ever get beaten because they give up alot of points. We have the top rusher in the AFC and an explosive game changer in Leon. Our OL has gotten very good and while our QB still makes some mistakes he can make plays that only Brett Favre can.
This kid is only going to get better, like Favre said yesterday, he doesn't even know how good he could be yet. It is clear the way Favre talks about him that he thinks Keller is going to be special, the kid is developing into his favorite target, that will only help the WRs, which we saw yesterday. Wait until we start utilizing his speed down the seams more, which we really haven't seen all that much of yet. We have been utilizing his quickness underneath to perfection though the last few weeks, I could see him scoring a long TD in the next week or so.
I was NOT happy with the pick at the time....... I WAS WRONG. Kid's a stud. Once he becomes a little better blocker he can be one of the best in the game.
Don't be surprised if he has another huge game next weekend against the 25th defense against the pass (we're the 26th!!)
