Are you shitting me? I'd take Streveler in a FLASH over Fields. Wouldn't even have to think about it. lol
Hard to say who’s worse between Fields and Zach but man hard to find any QBs worse than these two bozos
And as much as I hate the player (not the guy…Fields may be a great guy I have no idea), but I do hate the player, I hate the coach who keeps putting him out there just as much. The only thing I can think of is he’s purposefully trying to lose games and tank without saying so. Either that, or he is totally delusional if he thinks Fields gives us the best chance to win…dude can’t complete a pass more than 5 yards downfield at this point…
Watching Glenns press conference today, and him defending Fields, with he gives us the best chance to win, so reminds me of Saleh with Wilson, and all the previous HC of this team, saying the same thing, Rex with Geno, I'm so nauseous. But then asked about the defense with only 1 turnover in 10 games, has this ever happened in the history of the NFL, if it has I'm sure it was the Jets lol
Man, I get so wildly confused between @Jets69 and @Jets79. You guys can’t be posting back to back on top of it!
That’s what makes me think that either Woody is mandating that he plays because he’s getting the bag this year OR they’re fine losing these games for draft position. Saleh looked like he was on a hostage tape when he was defending Wilson as his guy. Glenn doesn’t quite look like that but it has the same overtones of not being their decision. Because it’s certainly not a best chance to win decision.
JV, nothing else makes sense of this situation. There's no plausible reason why Glenn keeps trotting an ineffective, outclassed QB out there. I hate to blame Woody but you have to wonder if the cash is the culprit here. If I were new on a job and just blew $40m of the boss's money on a bust, I'd be a bit touchy about the situation too. Glenn certainly can't afford more expensive mistakes like this.
Or the alternative is worse. Tyrod is actually injured worse than he is letting on, and they haven't coached up Cook (or he sucks) to the point where they have no option at this time. If they are playing him because of the money they are stupider than I thought. Fields isn't going to return the money if he doesn't play. This is the epitome of the sunk cost fallacy.
One of the earlier games in the year when the Patsies forced a fumble, they interviewed Vrabel and he was like "yeah, we coach the players to always be trying to punch the ball out". I'm gonna assume AG doesn't do that.
This ties into his overall processing issues. He hasn’t demonstrated that he can multitask. He can’t read a D. He can barely scope out multiple receiving options. Either of those things plus maintain awareness of the pocket and when to step up or when to run? From this kid? He’s miles out of his depth as is anyone in the org who doesn’t recognize this.
But they must! Literally during the first Patsie possession, can't remember which DB it was, was literally swiping and punching at the ball in Henderson's hand. The only problem was the kid was already on the ground.
My thoughts exactly, especially after I saw the drone on the sidelines before the game, its got to have some merit, Saleh almost resemble a actor in invasion of the body snatchers, almost robotic in his replies, now Glenns onto, we're going to evaluate!
Of course he does. I don't think much currently of AG,but to blame player failures on him is not correct. BTW, why would anyone want to see Taylor if Fields is healthy. What possible good can come out if that except a few harmful wins. Last night was not a Fields loss, we all know he has only a certain level of competency. The team played very poorly on defense and too many dropped passes that might/could have been caught, even if not placed correctly. But Fields is a lost cause so take losses in stride.
The lack of turnovers on defense is alarming. I think it's a fair question to ask, why are the Jets not getting punchouts on sacks, or tackles? Every other team seems to be getting them. I cited that quote as an example of the fact that this is coached, not just blind luck. Are the Jets being coached to do this? I hate tanking. Therefore, I hate losing quarterbacks. We have already sold off our top assets to load up on draft picks. I've ranted and raved ad infinitum in other places on this forum about how important I think it is to try to win every game and work on building a winning culture. I'm done with losing. Plus, watching Fields bumble around behind center is making my eyes bleed. I want to see a representative football game every Sunday for the rest of this year.
You are not going to build a winning culture with this roster. The thing to hope for is AG develops as a coach and the brain trust(i hope they have some) can identify players to add next season. Draft, agency, whatever. It's quite possible to learn from failure. The brain(less) trust has plenty of ammunition
Time to demote him to a situational Brad Smith wildcat role.... mostly because we know Tyrod Taylor will get hurt AGAIN
