If the Jets got Henne I would be very upset. He would not be the answer to any of our problems. Henne has never had a winning season, never made the playoffs, hell I dont think he's ever won more than 4 games in a season. and there is no way he is just going to get magically better by coming to the Jets. This would be a really stupid move if you ask me.
I actually would like the Henne pickup. He's shown flashes of being a solid QB and his knowledge of the system can't hurt. Would a guy like Jason Campbell be that much more of an upgrade?
Yeah this idea just has bad written all over it. Got to agree with the Fin fan on this one. If you are going to declare Sanchez the starter then you get a veteran backup who can play but will not unless necessary, not someone almost his age who has a familiarity with the system we're running and is chomping at the bit to prove he can still be a starter. And what happens if it is a real competition and Henne does beat him out at some point next season? Now we're committing to Henne as our QB of the future? I don't even care anymore if this makes football sense. The fact that it's making my head hurt just tells me it's wrong on some level. Fuck you Henne.
You are one funny guy! Do you have a stage act somewhere , so I can Throw popcorn and Utter obscenities at you.....................I'm serious!:rofl2:
I would love to see Henne wind up with the Jets so that should tell you that you dont want him. He is pretty good between the 20s where there is room to operate but when he is in the red zone, a different guy emerges. Inconsistent, ball placement is horrible, accuracy is more erratic then Snatcho, has not performed well under pressure, bad decisions, his play action is a joke. Not what you want in a QB. He may wind up there because of Sparano and he may very well perform well enough to really challenge Snatcho, which would be your worst nightmare; however, I am more inclined to think he will go somewhere that he can actually compete for the starting job.
So here's an idea. Between the 20's, (and preferably inside the own 20's) Henne moves the ball. Once he gets the offense into the 20's, Sanchez rolls out and seals the deal. That's what I call TWO-HEADED MONSTER!!
Garrard seems a better prospect. He's someone who never really got a fair shake in Jacksonville (Does something with them in '10 and gets chucked out in '11 despite them having no real receiving threats), and would definitely come cheaper than Henne from the sounds of things. It'd come down to whether he actually kept in condition during last season though.
This. He is so bad in the red zone. He literally does not know what to do once he gets there. I think he gets down there and thinks to himself "Hey no big deal if I fuck up here we already have the fg in the bag" If I had to list Henne's strengths they would be arm strength and bootleg rollouts. Thats it
You're afraid of bringing in a young QB with upside who might beat out Sanchez? this baffles me...... If He beats out Sanchez then the jets are in position to keep Henne at a reasonable deal and rid themselves of the Chez'...... Then get a good Young QB that can compete with henne with a lot less pussy's afraid of his feelings being hurt from Competition.... Jesus Christ.
I really don't see the Jets doing this unless he's dirt cheap. This is all just media speculation because of the obvious connection.
come on bro......in what alternate reality did Mark Sanchez play "fairly well" last year? Thats just pure lunacy dude. He played fairly terrible. He has said it, his coach said it, his GM said it, every single analyst on tv, radio or internet has said it.
On the money Murrell. I was thinking this very thing but was too scared to post it in case I got slaughtered. I honestly believe Quinn could be a really good QB in this league if he got a shot aND some nurturing and it would certainly give us a good option if Mark has a lean time.
i think the point is that he might or might not be a challenge to sanchez depending on your view of who of them is more awful. This move would not help sanchez at all, therefore the more rationale thing for Tanny and jets is to decide if it is sanchez or not for 12/13 and depending on the outcome of that exercise pick a first qb or a true back-up, Henne is neither, just another waisted 5 mill on top of sanchez 15 mill.
The Jets need to bring in somebody who could plausibly take the field if Sanchez went down or actually regressed and became a detriment to the offense. Bringing in a guy who could seriously compete for the job will just take us back to 1978 (shudder), when the Jets had a starter under fire and a backup just good enough to get on the field and therefore had no QB. Parcells is right: a team with two starting QB's has no starting QB's.
