this would be stupid. shaun ellis is one of my favorite players and allen faneca is still a beast as a run-blocker. i dont think i would like the overall character makeup of the team without these two. the piff-smokin veteran under-rated DE and an ole' pulling guard probowl vet no longer with us? fuck that shit. happy 420 everyone.
But we only save 1.3 million if we do cut him now.Cutting Ellis and Thomas would save about 7 million, but what's the point in trying to save money in an uncapped year when we are aiming for a superbowl? All these moves would be horrible.
Thomas is the only player I wouldn't mind seeing let go, wouldn't be happy but wouldn't mind. Seeing Faneca and Ellis leave tho would make me light the city on fire
I hope this guy is just a big ruhtard because cutting those guys would make absolutely NO sense this season. Now next season is a different story and I would actually be surprised if Faneca wasn't released next year but to do it this year would be completely asinine especially in an uncapped year.
faneca, ellis and the cactus to be waived?! per nfl post: http://www.nationalfootballpost.com/DMN-Our-first-look-at-the-NFL-schedule.html 1. The Jets recently reworked Santonio Holmes’ contract to lower his base salary, so the amount of money that’s deducted for his upcoming suspension will be less. When Holmes was traded, most of his money due in 2010 was in the form of his base salary, but since he became a Jet, the team shifted the money into roster bonus, reporting bonus and signing bonus so Holmes would pay as little as possible for his fine. This clearly cannot make the NFL league office happy and goes against the spirit of the suspension. 2. Speaking of the Jets, they are actively shopping guard Alan Faneca, defensive end Shaun Ellis and linebacker Bryan Thomas and will probably waive these players after the draft. You might be surprised to read Faneca’s name, but he’s the first to go after the draft.
I'll join the chorus of "bullshit." No way, in an uncapped year, would we cut three starters. That's cap casualty talk.
This better be bullshit. Woody better not get cheap on us now, when we're this close to being contenders....
They wouldn't be able to justify this move without looking dirty cheap. Fans would be very upset, and that would directly affect PSL sales.
