Brady is the NFL poster boy. Never mind that Kraft is a powerful owner. I get guarantee that if Chad was hit the same way it would have been a "No Call"

Definitely would've been a no call....look at he no call on the helmet to helmet play during the game on Chad. I think there are several QBs that the officals over protect and I think that since that Jacksonville game the Jets are a team that are going to be called for every close rougher the passer play.

Yeah I wanted to explode when he contrasted the Hobson hit with Vilmas hit. If Vilma's hit was so textbook WHY WAS HE FLAGGED FOR IT YOU DOOFUS!!!!! (referring to Periera)

This guy didn't justify any of the ref's calls but managed to avoid admitting the refs screwed up. Props to Eisen for asking great questions though.

This protection of the QB's is getting ridiculous, our team had to go through QB injuries in '99, '03, '04, and '05. IT'S A PART OF THE GAME! Keep the rules the same and let others suffer like we did!

Wow. I just checked the play by play, and the video tape, and sure enough, the game log says that the Line of scrimmage was the Jets 7, and on the replay, it was the Jets 7. That's a horrible contradiction. Perriera can kiss my ass.

Wow, I'm really shocked by this. Thanks for pointing it out, because he really did make it seem like it was a clean hit. WTF?

I mean, unless he meant to demonstrate that they made a mistake on that call, although he certainly didn't mention it was flagged?

We're absolutely positive this is the same play? (That game is a blur to me)

    Very weird.

I am 100% positive man. At that point in the season it was rare if any of our players got to the QB so I remember it vividly. Barton and Vilma both got b.s. calls that game.

I understand they don't want another Joe Theisman cruncher that Lawrence Taylor gave him & by the way the Real L.T. is Lawrence Taylor, not Tomlinson out in San Diego. At least I have respect for the man on how he played defense.

But other than that, you might as well put flags on the QB and once you rip them off Refs can blow the play dead and call the In the grass rule.

This Perriera is pathetic. I just saw it on the NFL website. How in the hell can you expect to change your body position once a defender wraps his arms around and plants the QB into the ground. If it's at an angle then definetly it's good, but we are talking about a straight line and full speed ahead. Hobson's eyes got very big when he saw Brady and by all means he let him have it.

Sadly the NFL is a business and it's not your father's or your grandfather's NFL anymore. When you see the old footage of Dick Butkis and all these old Raiders teams & Steelers teams from the past, it was hard nose, kicking your teeth in, rip them to shreads football. Now you get flagged for over the top celebrations in the endzone as well as putting too much muscle or actually slaming the QB down into the ground.
Oh wait I forgot, the only QB's that actually get coddled are Peyton, Brady and any other QB that doesn't wear the Hess Green & White colors of the NY Jets. Which means Pennington is wide open to get knocked out.

I cant stand watching Mike Perriea. He's so gutless. For the two horrible calls on the Jets these past few weeks you can really see the fan in Eisen as he takes a certain tone like, "come on give me somthing".

Again, it's the rule, not the officials. It's up to the competition committee to fix this problem. That being said, I also do understand the need to protect the QB both from a financial and competive standpoint.

How much are people going to whine about this call? It was the correct call according to the rulebook. It really makes it seem like a case of crying wolf and hurts your credibility when you actually have a legitimate misunderstanding of the rules go against you(like in the Cleveland game). Especially with all this "every QB in the league but Pennington is protected" nonsense. Just stop please.

FINALLY someone else noticed! When he referenced back to a Vilma hit to show the viewers what a hit is "supposed" to look like, he chose the hit that was ruled roughing the passer!

    Funny.

I was re watching the game and noticed a hit on Brady in the first quarter (by Hobson at the 7:30 mark).

    Exact same hit.
    Free run at the QB.
Hits him just as he released the ball.
    Lands on top of Brady.
    Exactly the same hit.

    No Call for roughing.

    They have to be consistent.

officiating for the most part has been good. they miss calls though.
It does seem as though they miss more calls against gang green than
other teams. You watch other games, and you see "non calls" that
you know would be called against the jets! It seems as though the
officials are watching us closer than the other guys, who get away
    with the close ones!

imagine they had the periera segment back when the ref thought that vinnys helmet was the ball verse seattle. how funny would it be for them to go over and give commentary for that play.

lets stick to the coaches teaching and enforcing the players to understand
and play by the rules, if you watch the other games around the nfl you will
see that there are ways to get hits on the qb without lifting him up. Bottom
line was the call was the correct call, and hobson was wrong.

He didn't lift him up! Brady left his feet to throw which is what a quarterback is tought to do when getting hit. It was a textbook hit in a league with pussy rules

They don't need to be roasted. These guys are human and as such are going to make some mistakes along the way. But, there is nothing wrong with being honest about it. Come out and say we looked at the tape on these plays and yes, we need to work on it. The whole no comment thing is lost on me.
