I'm sorry, but i'm so tired of people blaming Vilma for what's going on with the defense. When Vilma was a stud during Herm's tenure, people loved him. Now that he's in a defense that doesn't suit him or his talent,he sucks. I don't buy it.

I hope he does get traded to a team that has a 4-3 scheme and you will see the old Vilma. Then "fans" will bitch and moan about trading number 51. It's the James Farrior situation all over again.

I completely agree. The business side of football is that Vilma will have to be traded, and he will most likely be a pro-bowler yet again and have a great career. But since this team is now a 3-4 team, he cant fit. Its time to part ways.

If the FO keeps drafting Harris', Revis' (give him time), and solid O-linemen, then this team will get better then we'll have a good LB corp.

Also, i have been saying get rid of sutton since week 2 as well. The old man does not understand the 3-4 and cannot utilize it correctly, as well as having 7 guys who cant play in it. (Revis, Harris, Coleman, and Rhodes can play in the 3-4 effectively on this team)

    3-4

I'm getting sick of Mangini's Man Love for the 3-4! We had a servicable 4-3 defense. The absolute garbage that we run out on the field on Sundays this season is just beyond description. Look, we're in our second season of his defense. And all I hear is about players making mistakes. Missing assigments and tackles. THATS COACHING! There are alot of players who can switch between the 4-3 and the 3-4, hell, Klecko was a Pro Bowler in both schemes! None other than Belichick himself thought Vilma was a fit for 3-4 LB. Whats going on? Can we come to any other conclusion than BAD COACHING?

After yesterday's performance on defense, it's hard not to rise to Sutton's defense. He hasn't had the right players to work with for a while. He's probably not a mastermind of the 3-4 but he obviously knows it well. I'm willing to give him a little leeway here and I'm not necessarily gunning for him being fired at the end of the season if the Jets can keep up solid D like this for the remainder of the season.

Your taking it that it was all Suttons work , if it was fantastic. But IMO it was Erics intervention that was evident.

Sutton's inablitiy to devise effective game plans for 8 of the first 9 weeks does afford him any leeway in my opinion. To not improve one bit on run defense in the first 9 weeks is inexcusable as well.

In addition, I believe that any NFL coach that has two weeks to devise a gameplan should have a pretty good showing come gameday.

(In other words...he still needs to go.)
