Thats is just wrong. well if I have to take three and only three. Murrell, and Mosely have to be there. then the debate becomes who is more valuable to us on special teams? Kareem Brown, Ahmad Carroll, or Wallace Wright? since you allready kept two defensive guys, who can play on the LOS, brown seems like a goner because Carroll can return kicks, and Wright is the best ST gunner we have. We have other guys who can return kicks, so Wright makes the cut. my final three, Marques Murrell, CJ Mosely, and Wallace Wright
Anybody think there's any chance Paul Raymond survives the cuts? Or at least makes it to the PS? I know we have lots of WR's and there was the dropped TD in the second game, but he redeemed himself with the TD against the Giants and has consistently looked great in training camp - great route running and generally great hands. I guess I'm just rooting for him because I went to Brown and don't get to see a lot of other Brown alums in the NFL, let alone on the Jets!
If NFL players had to solve a calculus problem to send the game into overtime, Raymond would be a lock for the roster. But, alas, that's not the way the game is played. So it's to the practice squad for him.
Chatman is a better runner than Smith. He fights to stay on his feet. He actually has moves. He looks like a gamer.
Waived offensive lineman Thaddeus Coleman, defensive back Ron Girault and running back Rodney Kinlaw; released running back Musa Smith.
Oh yeah, without a doubt Chatman is the better back. It's just surprising that Smith didn't make it to Thursday. It nows appears the Jets don't have much to settle at that position except for determining what they want to do with Caulcrick. Therefore, it would have seemed ideal to use Smith in the Eagles game and rest the RBs who will actually make the roster.
That's a good point. Keeping at least one of the RB would have been smart. If nothing else the guy would have taken the hits instead of one of our actual players. Now what are we going to do - run Caulcrick 30 times ?
Being that he is a veteran back, I'd like to thing we did the right thing and gave him time to catch on with another team...unfortunately it'll probably be the fins. Caulrick is a goner...
I think Caulcrick is at least a candidate for the PS. He's a huge back who can definitely deliver a punishing blow. And the guy scored 20+ TD's at Michigan State last season so he knows how to get into the endzone. That's something the Jets sorely lacked last season. I think Caulcrick is a tweener FB / RB and that hurts his case. But look at another guy who was labeled that way - Brandon Jacobs. He's done pretty well. Big, bruising RB are perfect for the Northeast, especially late in the season. So I hope we don't just dump the guy. At the very least he could become a FB and learn from Richardson this season.
Now it gets more interesting. The Jets have to cut 21 more by Saturday night. Who do you expect to be on that list? "Cornerbacks David Barrett, Hank Poteat, Ahmad Carroll and Drew Coleman are on the bubble, as are safety Abram Elam, linebackers Matt Chatham and Cody Spencer and defensive end Kareem Brown. Brown and Carroll, a former No.1 pick of the Packers, have impressed, but they're fighting a numbers crunch at their respective positions. Barrett is the most prominent name on the list. He has started 36 games over the last four years, but the emergence of rookie Dwight Lowery could make Barrett or another veteran corner expendable. Barrett, 30, counts close to $3 million on the salary cap (even after a recent $1.4 million pay cut), which doesn't help his cause. There is speculation that tight end Bubba Franks might be in trouble, but don't believe it. Despite an uneven preseason, Franks, Favre's former teammate from Green Bay, is safe. The Jets are deep at tight end, with Franks, incumbent Chris Baker, rookie Dustin Keller and Jason Pociask. "There's definitely a very good chance that all of them could stay," Mangini said. Of course, Mangini said at the start of camp that he was happy with Chad Pennington and Kellen Clemens at quarterback, and look what happened. Aside from Keller, who has a bright future, the only tight end with trade value is Baker, who complained about his contract before camp.
