Yeah, I see your point, but I think they were thrown partly to spread the field and open up underneath throws. I didn't like the throws on third down, however. Part of the problem - even the announcers acknowledged it, is a lack of a "deep threat". There were one or two nice deep balls in the Cleveland game, and a 25 yarder to Decker that was broken up against the Colts. The Colts actually defended the deep pass pretty well, and perhaps that caught Fitz and Gailey by surprise. Keep in mind we have outscored opponents 51-17 over the first two games, and many offenses that have been together for years are struggling to get it going. There is much to be optimistic about, my friend! Let's let the season play out a bit more...
I agree, I'm happy the team is doing well. But the defense isn't going to be this dominant in every game, you just can't. So the offense is going to have to be more efficient and more effective. I want to see 35 points on 5 turnovers, not 20. I don't care if its Fitz or Geno as long as they play better than they did last game.
The same "talent" that went 2-14 the year before and are 0-2 this season? Anyway, it's not right to compare four games for one QB to two games for another...and the Texans are not that talented, believe me,
Well if I had only done Geno's last two I feel it would have been too skewed by the Dolphins game and I'm not trying to misrepresent the sort of growth Geno showed last year. But its not the same talent, they are missing Arian Foster and Andre Johnson, also missed Arian for much of 2013 I think. We should be able to beat Houston this year no matter who are QB is though.
Do you even see what's happening in Houston this year? And Brian Hoyer, whose QB rating was in the 70's last season, brought in to start...the Texans message boards are ridiculing the organization, and many wish they had Fitz back.
Arian missed some games last season as well - very injury prone, and Andre Johnson lost a step last season and is no longer nearly as productive has he was several years ago. The Jets have more talent offensively and a better offensive line than the Texans. Hopefully Fitzpatrick will take advantage of that. He has some things in his game that he needs to improve over the past couple weeks no doubt,
One major thing that scared me that I'm not sure if many people caught on, he made some poor decisions down the field. The balls were so over thrown I borderline thought they were thrown away. I'm not sure he was throwing those away. Sent from my SM-G920T using Tapatalk
I think these numbers are good. Maybe 14-15 INTs is too much. he will have to have some games with 0 INTs. They key is to not have any terrible games. Semi bad, maybe. ut not terrible. Because this team's D might get you through a bad game if it is against a mediocre opponent.
One was definitely thrown away. On two he was jump-balling the pass to Marshall. A dangerous proposition with a safety in the area. One on one, you can depend on Brandon knocking away a potential INT. He is the anti Sanjay Lal receiver
Decent review of Fitz' Monday night effort. http://turnonthejets.com/2015/09/new-york-jets-passing-game-film-breakdown-week-2/ On a few of the questionable throws, Fitz had good check down options but decided on the risky throw to B Marshall. Eliminating this habit will be the key to the future. It turned out OK Monday night but if he can limit his risky throws he stands a good chance to have a very good year. With the Jets running game and defense, +60 percent completion percentage and 2x TD to INT ratio wins alot of games. And since Fitz is still in his early thirties, the Jets could decide he is the answer at QB for the next few years. I could see this happening as he suits their style of play. I am generally optimistic that Fitz will get there. Its just one major thing he needs to correct. Be patient, take what the defense gives you and let the Defense do their thing.
But the beard man, the beard... I'm waiting for the Mangold/Fitzgerald photobomb to happen. It's Mangold's style and he is the best at it.
Actually, here is an even better review: http://www.jetnation.com/2015/09/24/jets-passing-offense-film-review-week-2/
fitzpatrick is this decades version of vinny t. a veteran , who is the hold-the-fort guy. he is the bridge until either geno, petty, or another draft pick steps up to be the franchise qb. as long as he doesn't serve up turnovers, we should be in good shape thanks to a superior defense.
Hahah yes I agree, however my point remains the same. I don't care how it gets done! Just get the W's
Chan Gailey knows his stuff, knows what Fitz can and can't do, as long as they keep it short and intermediate there is no reason not to see continued success. Geno Smith hasn't played a down under gailey so we don't know what he can or can;t do under the new system. Fitz is throwing accurately to open receivers BUT Fitz can't deliver the long ball, if I were an opposing Def coach Fitz would have to beat me deep and with the present receivers (Delvin Smith exempt) The jets got no long ball speedster. I would call Fitz decent but I think Smith would do equally as good under the gailey system. Gailey O was effective in Pittsbugh and they have Mike Tomzak and he was out and out terrible. interchangable QB's Lam
